I had this beer on-tap in a pub glass at Elliott Bay Lake City.
Appearance: dark golden hue with a heart clear body and a finger of creamy ivory foam, leaving a nice lace as it dissipates. Quite good!
Smell: lightly citrusy and a little earthy with a sweetish malt backbone. Not too bad!
Taste: nice soft malt flavor with a mild sweetness and bitterness. Hops are a little citrusy, and a little earthy. Very much like a traditional English pale — I like it.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a very nicely integrated carbonation and an excellently smooth creaminess.
Overall: this is a very solid pale ale in the English style. I'm down.

Tried 11 Sep 2009 at brewery.
Bright clear copper color. Almost no aroma, just a faint bit of caramel. Starts sweet and caramely, turning just slightly bitter midway through. Medium body. Lingering sweet finish with a faint bit of resin (Cascade according to menu). Alcohol noticeable in finish.
Well balanced, easy to drink. Guest reviewer K says 'too bitter' (but she is not into hops).

Served in straight pint glass. This was a dry hopped version served at the bi-weekly cask night at the Green Frog Cafe in Bellingham,WA. Poured nicely with a semi-hazy orange/amber color with just a trace of carbonation and a thin head that left a solid amount of lacing.
Sharp hoppy aroma greets the nose, not much in the way of sweet scents. The flavor profile is much like the nose and this "Pale Ale" suffers from the common PNW malady of trying to be IPA-light. This was dry-hopped with Cascade hops and I believe that only Cascade are used in the brew, so this beer has a signature taste.
The body was typical for the style and very enjoyable. This beer was very drinkable and I recommend trying it.

My first pint of Elliott Bay beer was characterized by a strangely persistent dishwater aroma accented by an essence of black tea. The taste revealed vague altbier styling with integrated bittering and little forward hop flavor. Spry lace formed readily behind a body of unfiltered amber. A measure of diacetyl made a modest intrusion.
Elliott Bay claims this as their best selling beer. It is brewed with organic malts and hopped exclusively with Cascade hops. It's not a horribly flawed ale but otherwise lacks excitement and definition while yearning for a fuller body.

Great pale ale, borders on the line of IPA. Pours a nice mohogany red with a cream head that is great to look at, lacing will coat the glass, the smell is a strong blast of citrus hops, hints of forest pine, a great rich caramel sweetness mixed with fruit breeze makes this very refreshing, the taste is hoppy up front but the smooth sweet caramel and fruit cool the tastebuds. Medium bodied and explodes the tastebuds, very nice, maybe the best they have to offer.
