Notes/Commercial Description:
White Ale's are Belgian style beers, often refered to as "Wit" beer. Our version of this classic style is a wonderful spicy brew, infused with orange peel and coriander spices. It has a crisp refreshing flavor and a slight 'white' haze from the large percentage of wheat used in the mash.

I was not very impressed with this beer. There was no head to speak of and the color seemed a bit pale even for a witbier. The taste was a bit yeasty (I noticed yeast sediment in the bottom of the bottle so I left that last part in the bottle). There were other notes of citrus but overall it wasn't great.

Reading another review on here I'm thinking I may have had a bad batch so I would't rule trying this one again but if given the choice on a regular basis I would drink a Banquet over this one. The only reason it's 2.74 is because I was ranking it compared to the BA description of a Witbier.

After a couple horrible beers I'm looking forward to this one being good. And I'll end the night on a good note (hopefully).

Serving style : 12 oz stubbie bottle poured into glass for appearance.

Appearance (4) : Yeee. About a four fingered head resting on top of an apricot-pineapple colored body. Density is great and shows character. Sediment floating as well, love it. Leaves some great lacing on the glass as the head slowly recedes.

Smell (4) : In the glass there's fresh orange rind, sunflower seeds, ripe banana. Dew grass, some tart pineapple.

Out of the bottle you get a better scent of orange dreaminess - perhaps a day old in the trash, with hits of ginger and peppermint. Strong banana. It's downright beautiful out of the bottle.

Taste (4.5) : Eyes-roll-into-back-of-head good. You get some lightly sour wheat notes out front, but that transforms into creamy banana, orange, pineapple, and finally a tart and smooth fruit smoothie finish. Dominant notes on the finish are pineapple and blood orange. Gingerbread. This is to die for.

Mouthfeel (4.5) : If there's a creamy beer, particularly a Wit, this is it. I can feel it flow down the back of my throat like I'm drinking whole milk. Yet out of the bottle it has a slight pop to it that makes it curiously exciting. It's up there with some of the best finishes I've had, ever.

Overall (4.29) : Totally a winner for sure. Go get you some. Smooth, creamy, buttery, full of pineapple, banana, blood orange, and fruit smoothie. All with a back taste of creamy wheat. It's got this baked bread/ginger bread aftertaste to it. My goodness. If you can find it, grab it.

Had this one at a local Amana Colony restaurant with lunch.

Very pale yellow body, cloudy; very thin white head although it does leave rings of foam on the glass. Light, dry grass aroma with a very faint citrus component. Taste has a delicate graininess; grapefruit and faint lemon notes. Light bodied; crisp, clean, and very dry.

A tough beer to love or hate. It's light and delicate all around, perhaps a little to much so, yet a few other sips brings out a subtle intrigue of flavor. On whole, it's fair enough if you're not looking for anything other than a lightweight, relatively dry beer.
