Just in time for the holidays is our special treat. A dark and chewy bock beer. Around November you'll find 'chocolate bock' on tap down at the brewery.
No other beer has a more pure and intense malt character as a true Bock. Many large breweries in the U.S. have diluted the original strength of this beer, but we make the real thing. The body of this beer is rich, making it a good beer to warm up to during those "special" Iowa winters. The blackened malt that we use in it gives the brew a slight hint of chocolate. Its a smooth brew, having been lagered for over a month in our cellars, in true bock style.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Smooth almost creamy texture. Definite chocolate overtones with a long and slightly sweet finish. Not a lot of head or lacing with a dark appearance. On a cold windy night it is just the right beer.

Not as hoppy as Schell's bock which it will ultimately be compared with. But a nice malty, clean flavor that is appropriately carbonated. A very nice bock.

A dark brown/black from the front, and a clear ruby with a backlight, which also reveals moderate rising bubbles. A short tan head lasts less than 2 minutes before it becomes a bubbly cap and ring. Little to no lacing.
Aroma of dark malts and chocolate. The brewer states there is no actual chocolate in this beer, so this is all from the malts.
Taste is roasted malts and chocolate, slightly sweet, nutty, with a moderate bittering from the hops in the middle that carries through to the finish.
Mouth feel is on the thin side of moderate, smooth and creamy, with a light carbonation contribution to the feel.
The aftertaste is semi-sweet, with the chocolate, roasty malts lingering, balanced by the touch of bitterness.
Overall, a nice winter bock. Good, but not as good as the bock from Schell's, though.

Pours a clear, black cherry with plenty of carbonation. Has a thin, off-white head.
Great roasted nut, carmel, dark fruit, and slight coffee smell.
Taste of dark fruit, black licorice, dark chocolate, German hop, big caramel malt.
Roasty, warm mouthfeel.
This is a great Bock~

Dark brown body; dense, creamy head. Fine blend of roasted grains and chocolate in the aroma. Excellent cocoa powder flavor; caramel flavor and sweetness. Medium bodied; rich and smooth on the palate; some dryness yet predominantly soft sweetness for the mouthfeel.
This is an excellent chocolate bock beer, deep and rich all around. It is well-balanced and goes down smoothly.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark ruby amber with a medium creamy light tan head that goes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is sweet roasted grains with some perfumey chocolate and caramel.
The flavor is sweet grainy chocolate and caramel with a slight vegetal finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, sweet and grainy.

Pours deep dark brown with sight perimeter khaki foam. Brew is rich malt with touches of dark chocolate and coffee roast. Bold and seeet malty flavor with toasty bread, cocoa and caramel smoke with a dash of hoppy balance. Great bock at 6.6% ABV and mild 23 IBU’s.

Beautiful red/brown color. Very pleasant earthy smelling. The taste is earthy as well with subtle hints of chocolate. Exceptional relaxing experience. Would make for a great dessert beer.
