Twelve ounce bottle into Barilla jar.
Three fingers of head that dwindles kinda quickly. Some bits of lace here and there. Hints of grassy hops in the nose, sugary euro pale maltiness. Flavor is not really what I would call a Czech pilsener, but this beer is quite a bit better than I imagined it would be. A nice refreshing beer with a bit of a dry finish. Trader Joe's brews are well worth the 5.30 price.

To start: not a great tasting beer. Its very comparable in flavor to Natural Ice, Bud Ice, and other ~6% alcohol cheap beers. However, it costs $3.69 a six pack. In Manhattan. For reference, a six pack of bud light will run you about $7. If I knew about this in college it would have been all I drank. Its good to have laying around for bigger parties and guests who aren't really into craft beer; the trader joes branding makes people think of it being healthy and quirky, but honestly this just isn't a beer you should be drinking for fun.

12 oz brown bottle with a batch # and freshness date on the back label along with a blurb about the beer.
A- Two fingers of froth dissipate to a thin white lace with a bit of retention.
S- Very faint spicy and herbal hop, clean and sweet pale malt ... a touch biscuity.
T&M- Healthy crispness with a moderate body. Mild toasted biscuit malt character, mealy and hay-like. Butter? Sulfur? Just enough hop bitterness from the semi-dry palate, a touch spicy with an herbal background.
D- Pretty pedestrian for a Czech Pils. Not half bad, you get what you pay for @ $5.29 a six-pack. If I was shopping at Trader Joe's I'd get it again ... but I would not go to TJ just for this beer.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into Duvel tulip glass.
Appearance: Bright golden yellow with lots of bubbles. Small white head quickly fades into a thin white layer.
Smell: Sweet malts and grains are followed by light hints of banana, spices and hops.
Taste: Sweet bready malts are followed by a light banana flavor and spice. Slight hint of hop bitterness. Finishes with a very grainy taste.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body and carbonation. Very crisp.
Overall: A pretty tasty version of a pilsener that tastes like a light version of a hefeweizen.

Clear gold appearance. Average beer aroma, nothing setting it apart or to style.
Taste, straight forward, not bad, not adventurous. Prickly carbonation in place of hops, kinda true to style. Just doesn't taste like a whole lot, for better and for worse. This is the purgatory between BMC and craft brew. Hook this up for a friend who is looking to get initiated into something beyond diet beer.

Poured a very transparent golden color with some fluffy white head on it.
Smelled like grain. Not a whole lot to the aroma.
Taste is better than I was expecting. Nothing overpowering but a good balanced beer. Not a ton of carbonation or bitterness.
Very smooth light bodied beer.
Not a bad beer at all. I wouldn't mind drinking more of these. This is pretty reasonably priced too.

Pours a clear goldenrod yellow with a slightly off white head of medium bubbles that melt quickly leaving a bit of a map on the side of the glass in it's wake.
Aromas of fresh lightly toasted malt and faint citrus hops.
Light and refreshing but not really a whole lot going on in the flavor department. Slightly sweet toasted malt with a bit citrus hops biting the tongue at the same time then creating a balance with the malts as you swallow and in the aftertaste.
Like a stranger saying 'hi' as you pass eachother on the street, it's pleasant and refreshing but don't expect a long conversation from this one.

Straw golden color, with a thin sheet of white head and a few tiny spots of slick lace. Smells crispy, spicy, slightly lemon, grain and bread dough. Lightly zesty. Taste shares the same light spicy hops and lemon. Delicate maltiness. Fair balance between the flavors. Texture is slick and easy. Drinkable indeed.
Good for hot weather fast drinking.

12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: Golden with nice carbonation floating up but not much retention and scant lacing in the places where it's sticking.
Smell: A tad buttery with some grain and herbal halts and mild pilsner aromas.
Taste: Herbal hops, a bit of diacetyl and bread, and some pilsner malt flavors. Not a long finish, and not really a great version of the style, but mildly balanced enough and drinkable.
Mouthfeel: Nicely lighter to medium-bodied with good carbonation.
Drinkability: Yes, folks, this of course isn't the best version of the style, but it was pretty easy for me to drink it, and by the time I came to review it the glass was almost gone. Not bad to try, but nothing I'd seek at out again.

App. True gold. Perfect clarity. Decent head.
Smell. Sweet malt with a strong biscuit presence. Fruity hop aroma.
Taste. A slightly sweet but dry, flat malt. A bit of a bite from the hops and carbonation. Very minimal bitterness but I wasn't expecting much because the bottle said 18 ibu's.
Flat mouthfeel. I've been very disappointed by these trader Joe beers.

Poured form a 12oz bottle into a pilsner flute, good clear golden color typical of a Czech-style pilsner. Rocky white head that dissipated a bit too fast. Nose is grainy, dominated by malts but some delicate hop banana-like notes. Taste is decent, of good sourdough, but week. Gives the mouth a metallic feel and is slightly parching. Nonetheless, good value and an option for mass consumption by an audience accustomed to bottom-fermenters.

poured 12oz bottle into pint glass.
A- classic lager appearance with a golden honey wheat hue. not much of a head with minimal lacing down the glass
S- light grainy smells. little hops and malts with a hint of citric hidden therein
T- enjoyed the taste. pretty simple hop taste with no bitterness. fairly smooth with a bit of sweetness on the end
M- very smooth on the palate. really like the balance of carbonation and medium body in the mouth. probably the best part of this beer
D- overall not a bad lager. really good thirst quencher for these summer nashville evenings. would buy again for the price point

Clean, clear, and golden, with solid foam. No discernible lacing.
Nose is grainy, corny, and oh-so-average. Like a typical adjunct lager here.
Tastes sweet. More grains and sweet corn. Bland, watery...need I say more?
One-dimensional, over-malted, and uninteresting.

Appearance: This beer looks like carbonated gold water. Average head retention and lacing. Nothing exciting.
Smell: Very faint smell of hops and lemon.
Taste/Mouthfeel: I definitely detect an attempt at giving this beer a grassy Czech pilsener taste. It's ok, but not great. Unfortunately, there is definitely a watery feel.
Drinkability: An average beer.
Overall: See drinkability.

For the price you certainly can't complain, and for the most part all of the Trader Joe's beers are top notch! This one pours a clear, deep-golden body beneath a frothy head of white that holds really well and leaves some very nice 'broken' walls of lace about the glass. The nose is clean and malty/grainy (just slightly toasty), with a hint of sweetness and some lightly spicy and leafy & floral hops sprinkled here and there. The same is pretty much true for the flavor, with the addition of a stiff bitterness to back the firm maltiness. It's well rounded, and very nicely balanced. Overall, I found it remarkably drinkable, and quite enjoyable.

pours golden yellow with quick dissipating white head. Pretty much no smell on this one. Not too sweet and a hint of some maltiness. A strong apple flavor that almost gives it a apple juice flavor. Light and drinkable . overall an ok beer but I probably wouldn't buy it again.

Pours an efferevescent deep golden with 2 fingers of white head. Good/great lacing & very good head retention
S: Perfumy with corny & honey malt notes
T: Honey malts, herbal & lemony hops up front. Breadyness + grainyness as this warms. Finishes with lemony hops, dryness& crispness
MF: Medium bodied, low carbonation, + great balance
Drinks very easy & this a nice american take on the style, especially for $5 a sixer!
