look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Pours an efferevescent deep golden with 2 fingers of white head. Good/great lacing & very good head retention

S: Perfumy with corny & honey malt notes

T: Honey malts, herbal & lemony hops up front. Breadyness + grainyness as this warms. Finishes with lemony hops, dryness& crispness

MF: Medium bodied, low carbonation, + great balance

Drinks very easy & this a nice american take on the style, especially for $5 a sixer! (433 characters)

used this one for cooking beer cheese soup, decided I'd pour it in a glass and give it a try to make sure it was worthy to cook with. appearance was great with a nice fluffy 3/4 inch white head, golden in color with lots of bubbles, taste is clean and refreshing, not to sweet like a lot of lagers has a slightly dry after tastes, I'd buy this again if I were ever in the mood for a pilsner. (391 characters)

Paired very well w/curried coconut milk and vegetables.
A-Clear gold w/hints of orange and pink. Thin head. Light tracing that did not stick for long.
S-Light clean malt, faint noble hops, bread, lemon, grass.
T-Light malt, noble hops emerge modestly at the end, and the aftertaste is clean and even.
M-Clean and pure w/robust carbonation and good balance. Light-bodied, as it should be.
D-I was surprised how decent this one was; more so after reading some o' the other reviews that really bash it. There was nothing major wrong with this beer, even if some of its character may be overly subtle. The pairing with the curry created a contrast that brought out the best in this beer. (688 characters)

JosephsBrau Bohemian Style Lager has a thick, off-white head, a clear, bubbly, golden appearance, and lots of rather heavy lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweetness, biscuit, and grassy hop oil. Taste is of those elements, as well, and the bitterness is substantial enough to impress. Yeast is picked up, too. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and JosephsBrau Bohemian Style Lager finishes dry, easy going, and refreshing.

Nice clear yellow straw color with a full white head and nice carbonation but no lace. Lightly balanced earthy hop and grain aromas. Flavor is balanced pretty much the same. Light-medium bodied and smooth with a crisp dry finish.

Clean and solid ... more of a German Pils than a Czech Pils though in terms of hop rate.

color is like goldenrod wit ha large bubbly head. the nose is sweet with distinct honey notes. very enticing. the taste begins with the same honey-like malt then a slight grassy and citrus rind hop edge with a semi-dry finish. smooth and pleasant, perhaps a bit sweet. i think very nice for the style, except again perhaps too tame on hop presence to balance sweetness. (369 characters)

bought at Trader Joe's in Pittsford on 3/23/13. Price $ 1.09.

poured from a 12 oz bottle into a mug, served at fridge temp.

appearance: medium butterscotch yellow with a 1 finger natural white head. Some lacing but not much.

aroma: pale malt with a subtle spiciness from the nobles hops.

mouthfeel: decent for a Pilsener.

taste: pale maltiness is followed by balanced hop attack, finishes fairly dry and clean.

notes: like the Josephs Brau Vienna this is a style perfect beer without flaws that is very easy to drink. At the price this could become a Summer staple. (571 characters)

A: Hazy corn, almost a light copper. Lingering head that disipates into a sedimented lacing.

S: Rye and citrus, with hints of crystal malt and corriander.

T: Lemon and citrus up front, with a hint of under ripe banana. As it warms up the grain and rye become more prevalent.

M: Light and crisp, like a bohemian lager should taste. Adequately carbonated for the style.

O: I think this is a good solid example of the style. Not the best, not the worst. Taste and aroma get more complex as the beer approaches room temperature. Sessionable to be sure. (554 characters)

A - Clear straw with a white head of sticky foam.

S - Grassy hops with a pronounced maltiness bordering on marmite.

T - Quite malty but very clean. No fruitiness to speak of. Hops are also very clean bitterness with a slight grassiness.

M - Moderate body with some chewiness. Carbonation is moderate as well.

D - Quite good I think. Very rich, malt-centered brew that remains very drinkable. (395 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass. Besrt by 10/27/14 on back label. Purchased at Trader Joe's (Charlottesville, VA).

A: Clear light golden hue with 1-2 fingers of white, tightly bubbled head with good retention and leopard-like strips of lacing.

S: Light sulfur up-front with a bready light pilsner malt aromas and nice but subdued spicy, herbal noble hop note

T: Favors the malt over the hops but is nicely balanced. The bready, lightly toasted pilsner malt character is spot-on with a delicate dash of herbal, spicy hopping. Esters are not there. I don't get any diacetyl but I have a high threshold.

M: Very crisp with light-body and higher-than-expected carbonation.

O: TJ's Bohemian Lager is a really enjoyable beer and throws serious doubt into my plans to start homebrewing lagers when this can be purchased at 5.99 a sixer. (875 characters)

A strong and clear pilsner yellow. Very par but good with good bubbling to make for lack of lacing. Plenty of baseball field smells liek dirt and fresh cut grass, The grass feel doesn't lose steam after each sip. but then some lagery crystal malts hit the old tongue stickler. I was surprised by the slight nuances of special flavor compared to other pilsners I've had. Very clean lokk and refreshing taste at the end of the day. (429 characters)

Poured into a pint glass.

A: Pale, amber color with lots of carbonation bubbles and a quickly dissipating head that leaves a touch of lacing.

S: Sweet, hay-like aroma

T: Crisp, sweet, and clean. There is a dominant yeasty bread flavor and a bit grass as well.

M: A bit on the thin side, but perfectly fine for this style.

D: Easy drinking here. Nothing objectionable and the ABV is low enough for a session. Recommended. (426 characters)

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into Duvel tulip glass.

Appearance: Bright golden yellow with lots of bubbles. Small white head quickly fades into a thin white layer.

Smell: Sweet malts and grains are followed by light hints of banana, spices and hops.

Taste: Sweet bready malts are followed by a light banana flavor and spice. Slight hint of hop bitterness. Finishes with a very grainy taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body and carbonation. Very crisp.

Overall: A pretty tasty version of a pilsener that tastes like a light version of a hefeweizen. (552 characters)

Appearance: Crystal clear body, a little carbonation, not much. Good head, slow fading.

Smell: Lightly malt, grassy, and a little sour. Not bad.

Taste: Strong sharp malt, a little grassy, actually quite pleasing. This is one of the best from the Trader Joe's lineup. For the price, this is a tasty beer.

Drinkability: Won't knock your socks off, but for the affordable price, try it. (392 characters)

Got this in a 'custom made' sixpack.

Quickly disspovling head and the lacing doesnt even hang in there too long...

Crystal clear amber.

Mildly caramel and a tad bit of dry spice. Bready biscuity-ness.

A nice light to medium body with some crisp bitterness. Very refreshing and dry. I really enjoyed this, and lagers, as a style, are abysmally ranked on BA compared to other styles. I think this is a damn fine drinker and for the low price of $5 and change...it's damn good and definitly worth the price. (510 characters)

For the price you certainly can't complain, and for the most part all of the Trader Joe's beers are top notch! This one pours a clear, deep-golden body beneath a frothy head of white that holds really well and leaves some very nice 'broken' walls of lace about the glass. The nose is clean and malty/grainy (just slightly toasty), with a hint of sweetness and some lightly spicy and leafy & floral hops sprinkled here and there. The same is pretty much true for the flavor, with the addition of a stiff bitterness to back the firm maltiness. It's well rounded, and very nicely balanced. Overall, I found it remarkably drinkable, and quite enjoyable. (649 characters)

Poured out to a nice light amber-straw with a decent head that subsides quickly. The smell is pretty malty, a bit heavier than expected in a lager.

The taste is closer to an ale than a lager, since the maltiness really shines through. I was pretty surprised at the taste, since I would not classify this as a lager at all.

The mouthfeel is just right, not too watery or too carbonated.

The drinkability of this beer is pretty good, as well. However, just remember, this is much more like an ale than a lager. (511 characters)

Bottle poured into a pilsner glass, which formed a nice white head which stayed around for awhile during drinking. Minimal lacing on the sides of the glass - more like foam islands and strands on the glass sides. Lots of carbonation to watch and a simple golden yellow color.
The smell is interesting - I get yeast, some apples and maybe a hint of a wheat beer - later some hops. Pretty good I thought.
Taste is nice - not bitter at all (18 bitterness units according to label), very smooth and a little bit sweet with some apple and malt sticking out. Nothing very memorable though as it goes down.
Mouthfeel - very carbonated but it coats everything nicely and then leaves. Not much else to say.
Drinkability I have to give it a 4 of 5 because it went down fast and went very well with a pork BBQ meal. I definitely could have picked up another if I didn't have to get back to work. (884 characters)

12 oz brown longneck purchased from Trader Joes. Poured into my SA perfect point glass, the beer is a crystal clear light gold with a off-white head and very active carbonation. Some bits of lace on the sides of the glass.

The beer has a nose of malts and light fruit (plum & apple).

The taste is slightly sweet with honey notes and crackers. The hops come out a bit in the aftertaste, but this is a malt driven beverage. There is a hint of apple and a bit bread dough.

The mouth is pretty good and to style. It is a bit slick without a lot of gassiness. I think this is simple yet well made lager and one that would pair easily with most nonspicy foods. (659 characters)

Pours a light golden color with a copper hue. The white head dissipated, there is a hint of sediment suspension, and has some action.

Light caramel malt aroma with a hint of some sour notes in the smell.

A pale malt grainy taste with well balanced esters of grapefruit, in the background there's a hint of a butter flavor.

Medium bodied, watery and butter/resin feel, with a crisp carbonation.

I don't really go out of my way for Lagers, I'll review them for my own understanding of the style. This is drinkable. (516 characters)

A -- Clear straw to light gold with a thick white head that holds up nicely.

S -- Soft malts and light spicy, even citric, hops. Slight DMS. Maybe just a little lighter in hop character than I'd expect from a Czech Pils, but still pleasant.

T -- Bready malts at first taste then spicy hops take over -- but both fade quickly, not much lingering aftertaste but a bit of graininess. Balance is certainly toward hops, but again -- pretty mild for a Czech Pils.

M -- Light body with a soft to vaguely spritzy mouthfeel.

D -- What can you say, but this beer is refreshing and goes down easy, nothing harsh or palate twisting, a quaffer. It's got more character than BMC and beats them at their own game.

Not sure why TJ's & Gordon Biersch label this a Bohemian/Czech Pilsner, it always seemed more in line with a German Pils -- even a Helles. (842 characters)

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a half finger white head with decent retention and lacing. Very light aroma of biscuit malt and slightly spicy, grassy hops. Flavor is mild, slightly sweet biscuit malt and very light grassy hops with hints of the background crackery malt in the finish. Light bodied with nice carbonation. A very light version of a pilsner lager with all the flavors dialed down. Pleasant and actually quite nice with lunch, but pretty much what you'd expect for a decently made cheap domestic German lager style. Nice for the price but approaching mass market beers in tameness. (649 characters)

Clean golden yellow with a puffy, glass-crawling, cloud-white head. Nose is honeyish malt, light butter, grains, and sea-air-ish hops. Spicy bitterness up front. Mild biscuit malt and honey. A little cardboard for good measure. Moderately strong hop bite; peppery and bitter. Overall, a little too cardboardy, but not bad. Light-bodied, with gentle, but obvious carbonation. For the price, a good beer. (402 characters)

Poured into a stange glass. A half inch of white foam resulted, with a golden yellow body. There were visible carbonation trails rising rapidly through it, and a feeble skim of foam was left after a few minutes. Slightly skunky noble hop aroma, herbal and grassy but pretty toned down. Some crackery malt flavor, it finishes dry and crisp with a slight hop bite. There was a little corn husk element too, and gassy carbonation. Sort of average, but not bad if it's free or cheap (this single was $1). A nonintellectual cookout brew. (532 characters)

This beer pours with a fairly deep golden color. A very wet and frothy looking head recedes quite fast. Heavy notes of honey and pear in the aroma give way to a hint of peach. Super crisp and clean taste with no hop presence. The honey notes come crawling back for the very end of the finish. Overall, not a bad beer for the price. (331 characters)
