Pours a clear goldenrod yellow with a slightly off white head of medium bubbles that melt quickly leaving a bit of a map on the side of the glass in it's wake.

Aromas of fresh lightly toasted malt and faint citrus hops.

Light and refreshing but not really a whole lot going on in the flavor department. Slightly sweet toasted malt with a bit citrus hops biting the tongue at the same time then creating a balance with the malts as you swallow and in the aftertaste.

Like a stranger saying 'hi' as you pass eachother on the street, it's pleasant and refreshing but don't expect a long conversation from this one. (614 characters)

Clear gold appearance. Average beer aroma, nothing setting it apart or to style.

Taste, straight forward, not bad, not adventurous. Prickly carbonation in place of hops, kinda true to style. Just doesn't taste like a whole lot, for better and for worse. This is the purgatory between BMC and craft brew. Hook this up for a friend who is looking to get initiated into something beyond diet beer. (395 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass

This beer pours a crystal clear, pale golden/yellow with a pillowy white head that recedes quickly and leaves very little lacing.

Very mellow, small nose consisting mainly of malty sweetness with just the slightest hint of spicy hops. Not really much here in the way of aroma

There is a slight bready, toasty flavor that mixes well with the overall malty sweetness. Very small spicy hop profile. Crisp and dry and very pleasant overall, but not really a good example of a czech pilsener.

I enjoyed the beer overall, but would have liked to have seen more hop presence. (619 characters)

Appearance: This beer looks like carbonated gold water. Average head retention and lacing. Nothing exciting.

Smell: Very faint smell of hops and lemon.

Taste/Mouthfeel: I definitely detect an attempt at giving this beer a grassy Czech pilsener taste. It's ok, but not great. Unfortunately, there is definitely a watery feel.

Drinkability: An average beer.

Overall: See drinkability. (386 characters)

This has a very crisp, clean appearance. Light gold in color. The small head fades quickly.

Has mild bitterness with some bready flavors. Could be more crisp.

Medium-high carbonation. This is decent. I probably wouldn't buy this again, but considering the price I have no regrets. (284 characters)

To start: not a great tasting beer. Its very comparable in flavor to Natural Ice, Bud Ice, and other ~6% alcohol cheap beers. However, it costs $3.69 a six pack. In Manhattan. For reference, a six pack of bud light will run you about $7. If I knew about this in college it would have been all I drank. Its good to have laying around for bigger parties and guests who aren't really into craft beer; the trader joes branding makes people think of it being healthy and quirky, but honestly this just isn't a beer you should be drinking for fun. (541 characters)

Picked this up in San Fran at a trader joes that sells beer (thanks PA)...

Pours from the bottle a straw gold, thin head.

Smell is weak grainy malt, mild hops.

Taste is a bit of biscuity, grainy malt and mild hops.

Mouthfeel is thin, light lingering flavors.

Actually pretty drinkable, but like a bit more hop bite in my pils. (331 characters)

12 oz brown longneck purchased from Trader Joes. Poured into my SA perfect point glass, the beer is a crystal clear light gold with a off-white head and very active carbonation. Some bits of lace on the sides of the glass.

The beer has a nose of malts and light fruit (plum & apple).

The taste is slightly sweet with honey notes and crackers. The hops come out a bit in the aftertaste, but this is a malt driven beverage. There is a hint of apple and a bit bread dough.

The mouth is pretty good and to style. It is a bit slick without a lot of gassiness. I think this is simple yet well made lager and one that would pair easily with most nonspicy foods. (659 characters)

12 ounce bottle with an indecipherable batch number. Website doesn't let me look it up. Whatever though. $1 single? Let's go.

Slightly hazy golden yellow with a thin bright white covering. No head or lacing. Sigh.

Smells a not-so-enticing sweet pale malt and grassy, noble hop extract. I'd be almost stretching it to say there's a floral character to it...but it's barely there. Also has that adjunct-lager smell...

Taste is sweet and slighty grainy malt, bland spicy hop character with a dry and husky finish. Stumbles back and forth across the line that divides a pilsner and an adjunct lager. Definitely crisp. Refreshing? Not so much.

One and done son. And it's a pilsner? Damn. Whoever took that picture of the bottle on top of that beige carpet could have just taken a picture of the beige carpet and I'd completely understand. (838 characters)

Pours a deep golden color with somewhat large off white head, lacing is also present. Nice looking beer.

A pretty non descript smell slightly metallic and maybe a hint of hops.

The taste is pretty thin for a pilsner. Not much to speak of in the way of malt. A light hop bite in the finish along with a metallic taste. The finish is fairly dry and clean.

A fine light carbonation suits this beer well and improves the drinkability. Almost any beer this dry is gonna be drinkable.

This is a fairly average to below average pilsner. It is a bit light on the hops and malt for my taste for the style. (600 characters)

12 oz. bottle,

A: Pours a slightly darker shade than pale yellow. Finger of white head, good retention, very minor lace.

S: Grassy, hay-like noble hops/Saaz.

T: Bready sourdough malt and some biscuit. Hops are there but lighter than I like in a Czech Pils, label says 18 IBUS, low for the style. Perhaps I expected a little more. Flavour is relatively bland, but clean/no off-flavours.

M: Very light-bodied, the beer disappears in the finish, fizzy.

D: A pretty average effort. But this is considerably better than BMC at the same price. (542 characters)

App. True gold. Perfect clarity. Decent head.

Smell. Sweet malt with a strong biscuit presence. Fruity hop aroma.

Taste. A slightly sweet but dry, flat malt. A bit of a bite from the hops and carbonation. Very minimal bitterness but I wasn't expecting much because the bottle said 18 ibu's.

Flat mouthfeel. I've been very disappointed by these trader Joe beers. (364 characters)

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a clear dark gold color with a fizzy white head that doesn't last or leave lacing. Aroma is minerals, toasted malt, and earthy hops. Tastes like that crappy cereal with no sugar on it that your mom bought when you were a kid. Grains, pale malt, vaguely sweet, astringent. Thin bodied, but the astringency kills any refreshment one might have gotten. Not a good beer. (411 characters)

A 12 ounce bottle of Bohemian Lager from Trader Joe's. It pours fine, a crystal clear golden color with a decent, somewhat sticky, head. The aroma is crisp with malty undertones and a backbone of spicy hops.

Wispy malt on the palate with some rough grainy edges. It is sparse as it moves through the center--bordering on watery. It finishes with a flash of spice and hops. Sulfur lingers on the palate for a second or two after it is all done.

Nothing outstanding here, but drinkable nonetheless. (498 characters)

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass

A: Clear golden body, little to no head (even on a hard pour). No lacing at all.

S: A little grassy grainy with a little pepper.... Very Pilsner like.

T: Light grainy flavor a little on the grassy side. There is a mild hint of bitterness. No malt here, pretty true to style.

M: Pretty thin body.... Little carbonation.

D: Pretty plain pilsner nothing that is a must have. ABV is good and is not a bad session beer.... price is low. Not the best TJ's I've had. (500 characters)

A: Chilled hazed pale yellow in color. Has a small fizzy white head with little retention and no lacing.

S: Grain. Yeast. A slight note of sourdough bread.

T&M: Light with medium carbonation. Lightly flavored: creamy, slightly sweet malts, some light euro hops, but not a whole lot going on. Clean and refreshing.

D: A more or less uninteresting, but still slightly better than average beer. However, the flavors were clean and there were no noticeable flaws to distract from the light flavors. (498 characters)

09/10/09- Purcahsed at Trader Joe's in San Mateo, CA.

Presentation- 12oz bottle with no freshness info. Poured into a standard pint glass.

Appearance- Medium golden colored pour. Semi-fluffy quickly disappearing head. A bit of watery lace.

Smell- A decent hit of hops and a lightly bready and malty note...some grainy scents as well.

Taste- Average tasting pils. Adequately hopped and has a ligher toasted bready malt flavor.

Mouthfeel- Medium to higher carbonation level with a slight bitter aftertaste.

Drinkability- Just your average pils. Happy to have tried it though. (579 characters)

poured 12oz bottle into pint glass.

A- classic lager appearance with a golden honey wheat hue. not much of a head with minimal lacing down the glass

S- light grainy smells. little hops and malts with a hint of citric hidden therein

T- enjoyed the taste. pretty simple hop taste with no bitterness. fairly smooth with a bit of sweetness on the end

M- very smooth on the palate. really like the balance of carbonation and medium body in the mouth. probably the best part of this beer

D- overall not a bad lager. really good thirst quencher for these summer nashville evenings. would buy again for the price point (615 characters)

Bottle poured into a pilsner glass, which formed a nice white head which stayed around for awhile during drinking. Minimal lacing on the sides of the glass - more like foam islands and strands on the glass sides. Lots of carbonation to watch and a simple golden yellow color.
The smell is interesting - I get yeast, some apples and maybe a hint of a wheat beer - later some hops. Pretty good I thought.
Taste is nice - not bitter at all (18 bitterness units according to label), very smooth and a little bit sweet with some apple and malt sticking out. Nothing very memorable though as it goes down.
Mouthfeel - very carbonated but it coats everything nicely and then leaves. Not much else to say.
Drinkability I have to give it a 4 of 5 because it went down fast and went very well with a pork BBQ meal. I definitely could have picked up another if I didn't have to get back to work. (884 characters)

A -- Clear straw to light gold with a thick white head that holds up nicely.

S -- Soft malts and light spicy, even citric, hops. Slight DMS. Maybe just a little lighter in hop character than I'd expect from a Czech Pils, but still pleasant.

T -- Bready malts at first taste then spicy hops take over -- but both fade quickly, not much lingering aftertaste but a bit of graininess. Balance is certainly toward hops, but again -- pretty mild for a Czech Pils.

M -- Light body with a soft to vaguely spritzy mouthfeel.

D -- What can you say, but this beer is refreshing and goes down easy, nothing harsh or palate twisting, a quaffer. It's got more character than BMC and beats them at their own game.

Not sure why TJ's & Gordon Biersch label this a Bohemian/Czech Pilsner, it always seemed more in line with a German Pils -- even a Helles. (842 characters)

12oz bottle with no freshness dating, only a batch number. it cost me only a dollar, and i poured it into a standard pint glass.

A- this one pours a very clear golden yellow colored bodied with lots of visible carbonation rushing to the top of my glass. a small skin of bright white head forms before quickly becoming no more than a crown. little to no lacing left behind.

S- the smell is very subdued. grainy and bready malts. thats about it.

T- sweet bready and grainy malts. a mild noble hop finish. not much else. not bad, but not great either. pretty simple.

M-light, crisp, clean, and refreshing. the best part of this one.

D- easy to finish and a good alternative to the american macro lager. at this price, its similar in cost. not one of the better beers from here. (781 characters)

poured from a 12oz bottle into a standard pint glass.

A: light gold color. very clear and translucent. one finger white head, no lacing

S: mix of spicy hops and malt.

T: good balance of the malts and hops. you get a grainy malt flavor at first, followed by some spiciness from the hops.

MF: light bodied, moderately high carbonation. crisp feel.

Drinkability: decent beer. once again, Trader Joes does it again with a quality beer for the price. (451 characters)

For the price you certainly can't complain, and for the most part all of the Trader Joe's beers are top notch! This one pours a clear, deep-golden body beneath a frothy head of white that holds really well and leaves some very nice 'broken' walls of lace about the glass. The nose is clean and malty/grainy (just slightly toasty), with a hint of sweetness and some lightly spicy and leafy & floral hops sprinkled here and there. The same is pretty much true for the flavor, with the addition of a stiff bitterness to back the firm maltiness. It's well rounded, and very nicely balanced. Overall, I found it remarkably drinkable, and quite enjoyable. (649 characters)

Poured into a stange glass. A half inch of white foam resulted, with a golden yellow body. There were visible carbonation trails rising rapidly through it, and a feeble skim of foam was left after a few minutes. Slightly skunky noble hop aroma, herbal and grassy but pretty toned down. Some crackery malt flavor, it finishes dry and crisp with a slight hop bite. There was a little corn husk element too, and gassy carbonation. Sort of average, but not bad if it's free or cheap (this single was $1). A nonintellectual cookout brew. (532 characters)

Yeah, I've had Czech Pilsners much better then this. I would say this is allright, seems to have the bases covered but no, no, no complexity. I got some grassy malts, some corn, but I couldn't find any hop profile in this.

Overall, I could easily drink this, but the only reason I wouldn't get it again is because there are much better beers available in this category. (371 characters)
