A: Chilled hazed pale yellow in color. Has a small fizzy white head with little retention and no lacing.

S: Grain. Yeast. A slight note of sourdough bread.

T&M: Light with medium carbonation. Lightly flavored: creamy, slightly sweet malts, some light euro hops, but not a whole lot going on. Clean and refreshing.

D: A more or less uninteresting, but still slightly better than average beer. However, the flavors were clean and there were no noticeable flaws to distract from the light flavors.

Straw golden color, with a thin sheet of white head and a few tiny spots of slick lace. Smells crispy, spicy, slightly lemon, grain and bread dough. Lightly zesty. Taste shares the same light spicy hops and lemon. Delicate maltiness. Fair balance between the flavors. Texture is slick and easy. Drinkable indeed.

Good for hot weather fast drinking.

12 oz bottle pours a clear gold color with an ample cap of white head. Decent retention and lacing.

Nose is honeyed grains and maybe some buttered popcorn. Hops are not really in evidence unfortunately.

Taste is not half bad, mostly grainy with a little biscuit. Light hopping is there, but only if you look hard for it. Malts are a little sweet, this one really drinks more like a helles lager as opposed to a Czech pilsner. Mouthfeel is average for the style and goes down super easy. For the price this is pretty hard to beat, cheaper than a sixer of Bud - yes please, all day.

poured 12oz bottle into pint glass.

A- classic lager appearance with a golden honey wheat hue. not much of a head with minimal lacing down the glass

S- light grainy smells. little hops and malts with a hint of citric hidden therein

T- enjoyed the taste. pretty simple hop taste with no bitterness. fairly smooth with a bit of sweetness on the end

M- very smooth on the palate. really like the balance of carbonation and medium body in the mouth. probably the best part of this beer

D- overall not a bad lager. really good thirst quencher for these summer nashville evenings. would buy again for the price point

"Its good beer, just not great beer"
-My Dad

Pours the typical pilsner golden straw color with a frothy white head. Clarity is nice. Head holds on for a little bit.

Not much in the smell department, some light malts.

A touch metallic but also rather malty. Bitterness comes in with the prickly carbonation but not as bitter as a pilsner should be. This is not hoppy or spicy at all, but it is pleasant.

Mouthfeel is nice, highly drinkable average, cheap craft beer.

Appearance- Very light amber or dark straw with a tight, white head with no staying power at all. It does leave a thin, sticky white lace that also disappears in a semi-short time.

Aroma- Malty/yeasty with some malt sweetness and just the barest touch of hops. Just the tiniest bit fruity to.

Taste- Like the label says; "Crisp and refreshing". Kind of like a continental lager. A fairly aggressive bittering hop taste in the middle and at the end.

Mouthfeel- Body is medium for the style. Carbonation is a bit low, but it seems to work with this beer.

Drinkability- As a Czech Pilsner, not great. But pretty drinkable if you ignore style. One of the better Trader Joe beers. The mouthfeel, taste and aroma really complement each other.

Bought at Trader Joe's in Spokane, WA. Average head/foam. Left 3-4 rings down the side of the glass. Poured into a pint sized standard beer glass. The taste was average for this lager. Nothing hoppy or overpowering but none the less an acceptable beer for $5.99. I prefer Trader Joe's Bohemian lager to their other brands. I thought it had a nice crispness to it as one would expect with a clean lager or pilsner.

I read a lot of negative comments on this beer brand but if you are expecting higher quality beer then you know you will have to pay more $$.

Bottle poured into pilsner glass

Clear golden yellow with carbonation. Two finger thick white foamy cap with nice lacings.

Aroma of malt with grassy hops. Bit of spice.

Smooth , light mouthfeel. Bitterness on the sides and back on the finish.

You can see what style Budweiser is trying to emulate in a beer like this. Clean, light , golden yellow with a great head. Quaffable but not a lot of complex flavors. Nice, pleasant and a beer that I would drink again but would not go out of my way to stock up the fridge.

Basically a relabeled Gordon Beirsch, 12 oz bottle pours straw color with really foamy head, even some lacings.

Smell is pretty mild compared to Budvar or Urquell but some saaz hop aroma is noticable along with a slightly malty base. Light mouthfeel with very light carbonation, taste is fairly typical of this style but missing some of the kick of true Czech flavor, a bit weak in both malt and hop flavor. Even though there are better alternative this one rates high on drinkabilty and the price is awesome at $4.99 6pack. I always pick up a 6 pack when I go the TJ's, a good session brew.

12oz bottle with a best by date

Look is a paleish yellow, clear, with a small bubbly head. Smell is corny, grainy, with a little bit of metal. Taste is clean and pleasant, with sweet malts and a touch of stale hops. Feel is light and effervescent.

Good enough.

poured from a 12oz bottle into a standard pint glass.

A: light gold color. very clear and translucent. one finger white head, no lacing

S: mix of spicy hops and malt.

T: good balance of the malts and hops. you get a grainy malt flavor at first, followed by some spiciness from the hops.

MF: light bodied, moderately high carbonation. crisp feel.

Drinkability: decent beer. once again, Trader Joes does it again with a quality beer for the price.

Trader Joe's Bohemian Lager
12 oz brown bottle
Batch # 07/13/05
Served in a 16 oz pilsner glass

Pours a golden yellow. Rocky white head that leaves spots of sticky lace.

The nose is bland and uneventful. Some whiffs of grain.

Taste is clean, crisp and grainy. Neutral flavors like grains, wheat and oats. Mini imported hop snap on the finish. Nice drinkability level with this Pilsner. I drank this beer rather quickly. Very reasonable price for this beer as well.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass

A: Clear golden body, little to no head (even on a hard pour). No lacing at all.

S: A little grassy grainy with a little pepper.... Very Pilsner like.

T: Light grainy flavor a little on the grassy side. There is a mild hint of bitterness. No malt here, pretty true to style.

M: Pretty thin body.... Little carbonation.

D: Pretty plain pilsner nothing that is a must have. ABV is good and is not a bad session beer.... price is low. Not the best TJ's I've had.

A>Slightly hazy golden yellow. Lively. Pours with a big head which settles to none. No lacing.

S>sweet. Cider. Cereal. Not metallic, thank goodness.

T>Lacks almost any complexity, smooth finish.

M> fizzy to flat. meh...

D> Refreshing, and really easy to drink. And really cheap.

Yeah, I've had Czech Pilsners much better then this. I would say this is allright, seems to have the bases covered but no, no, no complexity. I got some grassy malts, some corn, but I couldn't find any hop profile in this.

Overall, I could easily drink this, but the only reason I wouldn't get it again is because there are much better beers available in this category.

Pours a deep-golden, crystal-clear yellow with a fairly thick white head that sticks pretty well for the style. Quite inviting looking, to tell the truth.

The aroma is skunky at first whiff -- typical for a bottled pilsner. Not much else -- some faint, malty, yeasty notes if anything.

Pretty decent taste -- some tangy light citrus, lots of bready, yeasty, sweet malts, balanced out by a nice hoppy bite. Better than expected.

Crisp and lively in the mouth and highly drinkable.

While this is by no means a great beer, it's pretty good for a cheap lager. A big cut above the macros and -- in a crappy economy like this -- not a bad thing to keep around as a quencher while watching a game or barbequing. Basically a really good lawnmower beer. And is that really a bad thing? I certainly don't think so.

Lightly toasted grain and we are off. Faded grassy hints here and there. Thin malt profile allows a slightly drying hop presence and it crispens it up as well. It lacks the hop zap that a good Czech pils will have but its still there at least. The only annoying part of this brew is it gets over the top with the grain bill and it takes all the carbonation to help this finish clean.

After a wave of tough reviewing, amazingly this trader joe's offering breaks the bad streak. It's nothing that's going to get the crowd buzzing, or even make you go WOW. This is what it is...a crisp, refreshing, light, don't think about just enjoy it type of brew. Simple and drinkable.

Looks like a pilsner - nice golden color with excellent clarity. Medium sized white head that settles into a smaller, tight-bubbled, lingering head.

Subdued hop aroma, with something of a slight fruitiness (apple juice?) Hop aroma a little underdone for the style.

No real hop flavor - balances is a bit malty though fairly balanced. Finish is not dry and clean - a bit of a lingering fruitiness.

Medium body and carbonation. No astringency or harshness - nice mouthfeel.

Overall really lacks the bite and hop flavor of a Bohemian Pilsner. Pilsner Urquell it is not, and honestly a bit disappointing. Most of the Trader Joes (Gordon Biersch) beers are damn good for the price.
