Pours cloudy orange/gold with a smallish white head. Lacing on the surface. Aroma is assertive wheat- cloves and bananas. Taste has little sweetness. Cloves and wheat tang. Pretty typical but not bad. Light to medium bodied and well carbonated. Pretty easily drinkable. Overall this is a pretty standard hefe. Certainly pretty good for the price.

Pours a pale orange color, very cloudy from the yeast pour. Two finger head fizzles out immediatly and leaves no lace. Hefe-yeast nose; shows tones of clove, bready malt, belgian citric phenols, and background wheat. Soft wheat malt, pale malt and grainy pilsener upfront followed by the mellow yeast bite of a bottle-conditioned weizen. Aftertaste is dried by mild phenols like citrus and a hint of german hop bitterness. Tart yeast character and subtle noble hops balance out this brew and in conjunction with the high carbonation, give it a slightly puckering mouthfeel. Light body with decent texture from the wheat/suspended yeast. Finishes more witbier-like than Hefe, showing a lot of phenols and less powdery yeast/ banana-clove. A very decent, if not different hefeweizen at a bargain price.

Pretty standard hefe contract-brewed for Trader Joes. Pours a straw, golden color with semi-thin layer of white foam. Yeast sediment was not as plentiful as expected. The nose is very nice with plenty of phenols and banana aromas. Slight traces of bubblegum and pepper come through as well. The taste is mildly sweet up front with a soft sharpness at the finish. Quite delicate overall, yet well carbonated. The mouthfeel may be a bit thin at times, but for a session beer like this, I cannot complain. Easy to drink, easy to enjoy, and cheap to boot.

Appearance is a cloudy orange..decent head with a lining on top that stays the whole way down. Lacing is there too, to some extent.

Aroma: Wheat, some slight clove and banana scent coming through, but not too much.

Taste: Yeast and bananas..cloves not too much, not much on the spice notes either...but overall its fine

Mouthfeel: Light and carbonation is okay so it does go down well

Drinkability: Good..it is a hefeweizen after all.

Wouldn't go out of my way to find this..but if its there I'll take it. Then again, I grade hefeweizens rather harshly because I've had over 20 diff. ones...many of them German

Poured from bottle into a smaple glass.

Appearance: Cloudy copper color. about two fingers of white head.

Smell: Bananas, wheat, and alcohol.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Medium to light bodied. Grassy taste with alcohol.

Overall: Not really impressed by this beer, I actually expected better from the Trader Joe's selection.

The orange hued beer with golden highlights is very much a hefeweizen, especially the strong nose of clove and bananas and spice that was even stronger with the head. Unfortunately, the taste didn't live up to the smell, being a bit flat compared to what I expected from the nose. Light, a bit thin maybe, but not too bad, and clearly not a disappointment, though I didn't have my expectations terribly high. Nothing wrong with it, and a nice refreshing hefe.

A-Hazy honey-amber w/nice head and ok retention. No lacing.
S-Sweet malt, bubble gum, clove, banana (ok, that's what the label says on the back, but for once it was thorough and accurate).
T-Sweet malt surfaces briefly upfront, midpalate of malt and spice, and finish is spicy w/clove and and banana.
M-Light bodied w/robust carbonation.
D-Good, and a potential session brew.

A- Hazy deep gold with a solid full finger.

S- Smooth and sweet banana esters.

T- Sweet yet very slightly tart. There's bready notes but they aren't overpowering. Decent balanced finish.

M- Nice light/medium body, good carbonation.

D- Good enough for a hefe.

Pretty basic Hefe, nothing great but pretty good.

Pours out a cloudy yellow color with a big fluffy white head. Head retention is great as it sticks around till the last sip. Nice lacing as well.

The aroma is full of the banana nut bread, mild citrus, and cloves.

The taste is what I would want out of the style. Soft wheat, banana and lemon hints, and some spicy clove.

Light and crisp. Very easy to drink

Overall, this brewery has met every expectation one would want out of a Hefeweizen. Great price too!!

12 oz bottle poured into a tall glass.

Hazy dark golden brew with a foamy, creamy head. Looks very nice.

Aroma was a surprise...definite german hefe banana and clove notes over a fruity background. The active carbonation gives a nice real hefeweizen feel. The flavor has a great banana-clove effect up front, with a nice tingle. The finish has a good slightly sour wheatiness. The finishing effect is a bit on the heavy side. All in all this is a remarkably good approximation of the German hefe style, better than some German hefes.

The beer is a misty, cloudy orange, radioactive style. Sticky white head that kills quick.

Huge floral aroma, citrusy and orangey.

The flavor is very wheaty, oaty, and very sweet. The flavor is delicious, and just like a hefe should be.

Creamy, sticky, but a bit over carbonated.

Wow, this is a fantastic flavor, a good feel and just an aromatic delight. I could drink this on a plane, I could drink this on a train. You get the idea.

Appearance: The pour is cloudy light orange with a decent sized white head that fades to a thin ring.

Smell: The nose is pleasantly traditional for the style. Lot's of banana and clove with a soft wheat backbone.

Taste: Ah, shucks. The banana becomes somewhat artificially sweet in the taste. Aside from that, clove, wheat, and yeast come out nicely as do the light spicy hops in the finish.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is straddling the fence between light and too light. I'll give it to light by a hair.

Drinkability: This is a little unrefined in the flavor profile, but it's still pretty good for an American-made weizen.

Light orange..cloudy with the swirled yeast..good 1in. head..fades to a collar. Looks like a glass of cider.
Smells like a hefe...light..citrus, yeast..little clove.
Tastes a little lighter than I would like , but not bad at all..the description on the back of the bottle is accurate...banana, clove, bubblegum...a little sweet.Wheat aftertaste...clean.
Light to medium mouthfeel..low carbonation.
Very drinkable.
This is a pretty good American Hefeweizen..and you can't beat the price...$5.29 for a six !

Poured into Weihenstephan Weissebier Glass.

Appearance: Appropriate to the style, cloudy golden yellow, with a rich head initially which recedes to about a 1/16" with decent lacing.

Smell: Typical hefeweizen aroma, clove, banana, a little more "muted" than the Bavarian versions but pleasant.
Taste: Very pleasant, good flavor profile that follows the nose, clove and banana. Not "over-hopped" like other American versions of the style. Well balanced.

Mouth feel: Well carbonated and smooth on the palate.

Drinkability: Very drinkable, would be a great summer afternoon beer. Especially affordable too.

End of the fridge, but time to review a pretty decent bang for the buck brew.

Appearance - A nice cloudy orangish gold color. A thin fluffy head tops it off but disappears quickly. It looks very nice, but a little more staying power and lacing would push it over the top. Still, very nice.

Smell - Lots of banana up front. With some spicy clove, and a little funkiness even. Sort of that nice wet hay smell. Real nice, like a fresh baked banana bread.

Taste - Fairly sweet, some citrus and lemon. A big bunch of spice. It's a little sweet up front, mellows out, and then finishes almost thin. Not quite enough balance off that sweet citrus.

Mouthfeel - Not bad. A tad thin. Decent carbonation.

Drinkability - Good, but that sweet citrus spice makes it a little tough. I'd have another, but I'm all out.

This is a pretty good beer. Very good for the price. Good on a hot day, but nothing spectacular.
