Poured into a freshly rinsed pint glass the two finger rough white crown split the scene way too quick, leaving a clear surface through which to view the light amber body. It left some legs on the side of the glass when swirled but virtually no lace.

The bouquet while the head was there was pleasant enough. Grassy sweet malt, a little floral, and some faint brown banana peel. First taste contained some of the malt sugars, but also a strange nuttiness like cooked edamame. A tart, mild astringency came on the follow. On subsequent swallows an off-flavored sourness began to overtake the pallette.

There was quite a bit of fizziness in the mouth but I usually like that, and it was more full-bodied then the Mexican versions of this styly usually offered. The unpleasant after-tastes might be broken up with the right food pairing here to allow the initial flavors a chance, but even at Trader Joe's below-a-buck-a-bottle price makes it hard to recommend.

Joseph Brau Vienna Style Lager has a thin-to-medium, off-white head, a clear, bubbly, amber appearance, and very little lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, brown bread crust, and a light molasses. Taste is of those elements, with caramel malt, and light hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium and prickly, and Joseph Brau Vienna Style Lager finishes crisp and refreshing.

Got this as part of a Josephsbrau 12 beer variety pack for 9.99. Pours a dark amber color with an attractive head. Taste is mostly hops, pretty expected taste of this style of beer. Definitely better than some other red ale/amber lager style beers that I've tried.

Orange and clear, rising bubbles, very nice head and some decent lace.

Aroma is this brew's strongest point, fruity and malty, with a fresh spring day tossed in for good measure.

Flavor is somewhat octoberfest-ish, but more toasty, with bready and caramel malt flavors, enough bitterness to balance with just a touch of floral hoppiness.

Body is medium and kind of more chewy than expected, but that's not a bad thing in this case. Drinkability is high, I'm trying to savor it, but the beer could easily go down real quick.

Overall the beer is very tasty, and I can see myself picking up a sixer of this next time I'm at trader joe's. Very good job on this one.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a one finger ivory head kept intact by constant carbonation. Aroma of sweet caramel malt with a touch of toasted malt, mildy spicy. Flavor is biscuit and lightly toasted malt, starts semi-sweet but turns somewhat dry, light grassy hops and hints of wheat and grain. Finishes with earthy malt and light vegetal notes. Medium bodied with nice carbonation. A satisfactory example of a traditionally laid back style. Nothing too exciting here, but it is what it sets out to be, a decent budget Vienna lager. Finish is slightly off, but otherwise a pleasant accompaniment for a meal or sessioning.

12oz bottle best by next April

Clear orange with little head. Smells like dust and old leaves till it warms, then its gingerbread, oak, English hops. Taste is a good mix of sweet grain and muted hops. There is some cheap beer flavor too, but not bad, mostly in the mouth feel.

Will grab this one again.

Bottle poured into a Samuel Adams glass

Copper red with a small stream of carbonation leads to an off white foam cap. Not much, but, there are thick lacings near the foam cap.

Aroma of grassy hops, grains , malt and a hint of spice.

First taste of sweet toasted malt, carbonation fizzes on the tongue, hint of hoppy bitterness on the finish. Almost too much fizz when I swish it around my mouth. I like the balance of malts and hops. Medium mouthfeel.

I like the balance of malt and hops. A beer that I would repeat at $6.99 a six pack. Might even keep in the beer fridge. A Nice little beer.
