A- 1.5" light brown head with a black body.
S-Sweet choclate and malty aroma.
T-Malty and oatmeal on the uptake with a lingering choclatey aftertaste.
M-Thin and watery at first but calming into a sticky enjoyable finish.
D- It is a very enjoyable stout and hits the "stout" standard well.

Poured out of a 12 oz. can into one of my pint glasses, this beer pours a very dark brown color that doesn't seem interested in letting any light pass through it. Has a fluffy, tan head that's about 2 inches thick when first poured that settles to a solid inch thick after it settles a bit, and it eventually settles to a thick surface coating with quite excellent lacing indeed. Aromas of some toasted malt along with hints of chocolate, and coffee. Aspects of the aroma certainly are also reminiscent of the smell of the oatmeal I had for breakfast this morning. The flavor profile matches the aromas almost exactly, with the aforementioned roasted malts, coffee bitterness, and some dark chocolate with subtle sweetness all being right up front on my palate after each sip. Next comes the oatmeal flavor. Rounded out w/ a bit of an earthy hop presence. Not an overly complex flavor profile here, more straight forward, and that works just fine indeed. Has a slightly crisp, mostly smooth and frothy, slightly creamy, full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. All of the flavors linger nicely on my palate for awhile after each sip for a nice aftertaste. A good beer here all around. Worth a try for sure.

12oz can purchased at the northside Trader Joe's for $1.17. One of TJ's contract brewed beers, according to the stamp on the bottom of the can, this is "best before August 16, 2024."
Poured into a snifter, this was black as night, with a thick, creamy mocha-tan head.
Roasty dark malt aroma. Slightly metallic scent as well.
Roasty, dry, coffeeish flavor. Not bad but pretty one dimensional.
Creamy mouth feel.
Pretty mediocre stuff, but not bad for the price

Easily competitive with the leading stouts: Guinness Extra, Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout. It's now up to 8 bucks a six pack, but still a bargain at that price. And agreed, the best of the Trader Joe's beers.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle at 69 F. into a 14 oz. Nucleated Teku 3.0 Stemmed Beer Glass.
Look: Nice, lovely dark color, changing to a tan colored two fingers width head.
Smell: Weak malty and for me seems somewhat flowery.
Taste: A slight coffee taste. Pleasant.
Mouthfeel: Full, a slight tingling aftertaste.
Overall agreeable for me, although I usually prefer a higher ABV brew.

Extremely delicious beer. Full, rich, roasted malts with just the right hints of chocolate and coffee without being too sweet or rich. Perfectly balanced hops with a slightly hoppy finish to compliment the malts. Not just a great stout but a great beer! One of my favorites and a must buy whenever I go to Trader Joe's. Josephbrau's beers are generally good and Stockyard Oatmeal Stout is probably their best beer.

Dark pour, black-ish body with plenty of ruby red highlights, somewhat fizzy body. Notes of earthy malt and chocolate are present, mild metallic-y esters and aftertaste though. Oatmeal is there but its buried a bit...impressions of coffee too. Its definitely solid so I'm probably just picking on it because it is Trader Joes....

Great dark beer for the winter.
At a buck a bottle, it sure beats Old Rasputin's gouge of over 10 bucks for a 4 pack (yes, FOUR).
And, the flat dark beers on tap at the local brewpubs.

Wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Poured looking like a stout, smelled like a stout, and tasted like a stout.
All that said, it’s not the best oatmeal stout I’ve had, but it is definitely not the worst either. And for the ABV, I could feasibly drink a 6 pack over the course of the night and still walk straight. So it definitely has its place- enjoy!

Stockyard like it’s 1890 in Chicago and the cattle just got into town. Like Al Capone before syphilis got to him, let’s get it on. Now, this isn’t exactly banging like the St. Valentines day massacre, but it’s better than the Cubs pre 2016.

12 Oz bottle BB 9/24/22.Poured into a pint glass
Pours a solid black/brown body with a khaki color head. Good head retention multiple rings of thin lacing
First impression is kind of earthy at the pour. As it warms I'm getting burnt coffee, nuts and a little bit of wort
Taste is roasted coffee and a hint of semi sweet chocolates
Feel was a little thin for an oatmeal stout. Not very creamy or smooth.
Overall; Pretty decent oatmeal stout for the price. I used to include a Value category in my reviews (it didn't effect the score) For the price point this is an excellent value! That said, the feel was a off for the style. But other then that it's a beer worth having.
