I stopped in today to pick up some beers and was able to find 2 beers that I havent seen anywhere else this year. I spoke to the stores beer guy Pete and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. We chatted beer for a bit and he suggested some Beligian beers that I am not familiar with. He also suggested asking if you need specific beers. Sometimes they will have them but not on the shelves. The selection is above average for the area and the prices were very reasonable. Definatly worth checking out when you are in the area.

This store recently expanded their craft beer section. They added a whole aisle of bombers and a whole cooler full of craft beer. Before the expansion it was a good store, now it's a great store.

As far as variety, they have just about anything that's available in the area. My only gripe is that they don't really have any real rarities that I haven't seen elsewhere.

As far as service, there are just high school kids working the store who won't attempt/ know how to help you. If you're in the area check it out it's worth it.

The store is easily located off of Route 9 North in the Shoprite plaza, behind Dunkin Donuts and a couple of local gas stations (Delta and Raceway Gas Station).

The positives, the store has a nice mixed selection of seasonals, West Coast favorites (Stone, Rogue, Lagunitas, etc.), local micros (Victory, Weyerbacher, Troegs, etc.), as well as European and other hard to find international beers. The store has a moderate amount of stuff that I have not seen in other stores like Oaked Arrogant Bastard

The negatives, you get the feeling that the store has outdated products on the shelves. The products are sometimes dusty and I have seen Octoberfest beers being sold 'on sale in May. The store does primarily focus on wine with it taking up a solid 3/4 of the store. While the staff has one or two helpful people with beer knowledge, the bulk of the staff are young kids that seem like the might suggest Yuengling, as a good local microbrew, if asked. The cooler and bulk section focuses entirely on macro brews.

The store is worth a stop in to see what they have that is new.

Better of the two liquor stores in my town.

Atmosphere: While they have a ton more wine and spirits, they have two nice beer aisles as well as a large cooler. Well organized.

Quality: Stock of a good portion of the beers move at a decent pace. On top of all seasonals.

Service: Rarely any interaction with employees. Most do not seem too concerned about me or the beer in the store.

Selection: Not bad, not huge but pretty nice. Seasonals and imports are always coming in.

Value: Good pricing, tend to be competitive with other stores.

This is one of my "go to" places after Marketplace Wine & Spirits, East Brunswick. This place has a better selection than Wegmans Wine & Spirits in Manalapan. This place carries a pretty good selection of craft beer. At times you can find some hard to get beers but other times it seems like it's always the same thing. Don't expect help, I've been there dozens of times and not once have I been asked for help. I'm always trying to locate someone and half the time I don't know if they work there or not, (everyone doesn't wear the uniform polo shirt).

As I said, their selections are good (at times). Think it's better around the fall and Christmas time. Prices are somewhat reasonable. Haven't been that impressed with the way they rotate the stock. Found some Stone 22oz bottles (Ruination, IPA) with a best before date of 10/2010 & 11/2010 on 2/8/11. Bottles on shelves are somewhat dusty and never appear to be in order. But I still frequent them, still a good place to hit up.

This place is my go-to place now that I refuse to go to Wegmans in Manalapan.

The quality of the place is good, fresh beer all over found nothing too old.

Service is what i expect from a place like this. No one really helped me but i really don't need help for the most part. Questions were answered by the cashier, when posed, but they don't seem to be beer people anyway. I'd like to meet the guy Pete that has his "Pete's picks"

The selection is pretty good, nothing too wonderful and nothing overly rare on their shelves. Wide selection of Samuel Smiths's, Belgians, Trappist, Dogfish Head, Victory, and others from around. Has had world wide stout many times when i went there and for only $8 a bottle. Bought a SS Yorkshire Stingo today which i've never seen, but i doubt its very rare.

Definitely my go to place now, good prices good selection.

EDIT: 16 months later, I feel the need to update this review; since my original review I have gone to this beer store at least once a month, and watching their beer selection grow and improve has been *fantastic*. It isn't Beers Of The World, or that thebestbeerstore place, but they have the best selection of single-sized (22, 750 and single release 12oz) in the area, and good selection of 6 packs. These days it is rare for me to leave after buying beer and not have something in mind that I couldn't pick up on that trip and need to return for.

This store has a very large wine section, with tons of categories. I don't know how *good* the selection is, but it is very wide-ranging.

Their liquor selection is good, but not special.

Their beer selection (the important thing) is very reasonable, and better than most places in my area. It is a little closer to me than the Weggman's on 9, and has almost as good of a beer selection. They have a decent range of regional beers and "BA appropriate" offerings, though nothing amazing or surprising. I asked the help a few questions about availability, and they weren't particularly knowledgeable, but they did take notes of what I asked about, and promise to call me if they could get it, which is something I suppose.

This place isn't amazing, and if it was further away I wouldn't make the trip, but if you are looking for a shop in the area, it is worth a visit, definitely.

There aren't too many great liquor stores in the Freehold/Manalapan/Marlboro area, I'll shop at this one second to the Wegman's on Route 9. Large, well organized store. Beer selection is above average. Beer fridge takes up entire back wall, lots of macros, imports, some craft stuff. Also stacks of cases on the floor along the back side wall. Then, there's the unrefrigerated aisle with the bombers and other good stuff on the shelf. Usually no rare finds, but always good Belgians available, as well as local stuff. The staff is energetic & friendly. A good choice if you're in the area.

It seems like liquor stores that are attached to a grocery store are either a welcome find or a disappointment. This one happens to fall under the former. As a liquor store, it is reasonably big offering many different types of liquors. As a beer store, it may not be the best in the area but it does have a quality selection of local micros and imports. There about half of the back wall has refridgerator doors which contain the usual domestic and imported macros. One of the aisles contains the good stuff: the local micros and craft imports. There are a decent amount of Belgian brews here, but I would say there was more German stuff there than anything. I surprisingly saw the Aecht Rauchbiers here. Also, some "gift packs" were also available (f.g. Duvel, Sam Smith's, and Chimay packs that include glassware). The store is clean, stuff is easy to find, and the cashiers up front seemed friendly. This is one of the better stores in the Freehold area, but I still suggest going to the Red Bank Spirits Unlimited for the best selection.
