Beautiful golden edges give way to a deep burnt-orange heart as Caldera settles into a shaker-pint, keeping quick-bubbling along its thin head, allowing for very solid lacing along the glass as swigs are consumed. And this is a very swiggable IPA: nicely juicy and fresh, with its substantial hopping feeling not the albatross but the elevating factor in an IPA that smells like fresh mountain air—crisp, almost mercurially clean, with only hints of snow-dressed pine and shrubs—and tastes surprisingly buoyant despite only medium amounts of effervescence.

Besides the hopping, the malt is sweet, but not overly so, with excellent balance and just enough pillow for the pine-and-herb hop-forward nature of this beer, and no additional weight added; this allows Caldera to be a bit atypically "juicy", as far as IPA juiciness goes—tasting almost like pine nettles and barks were somehow directly juiced, then a small measure sweet marjoram and a dash of honeysuckle were thrown into the mix, bubbles were introduced, and: voilà, this beer. In other words: it's extremely sure-handed, and therefore exceedingly sessionable, with the cauldron-master deserving plaudits for this excellently executed, very true-to-conventions (in the best of ways) American IPA.

Looks a bit cloudy with a red hue and tight bubbles, funky can label that looks like a reggae music poster
Smells a bit musty
Taste is hoppy and firm back end taste not too biter but full of flavor with some tart fruit tones like dried apricot
The feel of the taste lasts on your tongue
Overall this is a great beer i'm enjoying it

A: poured from a 12 oz can into a pint glass, copper colored with a large off white head that lingers leaving good lacing, clear

S: sweet fruit salad, mango, pineapple, papaya, fruity West Coast, juicy

T: only a bit of the fruit comes through in the taste, quite sweet, grapefruit peel bitterness on finish

M: sticky with medium carbonation

O: aromatic hop smell is very nice, wish the flavor was as complex and powerful, color is a bit too red, good mouthfeel
