Pours a nice amber color, dark for an IPA, but pleasing. Very clear, nice head. Smell is floral hops, not too strong, but really nice. Taste is the same. It's well balanced, good hoppy flavors, feels pretty good... It actually reminds me a lot of nugget nectar. If it's well priced, I'd buy this again.

Hazy amber in color, high carbonation nets a three finger high parchment colored head. The foam is frothy and thick, high retention that never does go away and dense clumps of lacing.

Whole grain toast and caramel sweetness from the malt, a standard fare with a bit of fig and red fruit esters from the yeast. Hop aroma is rather poor, grassy and some pungent earthy herbs.

Bread and stale dinner rolls, husky grains and a twinge of metallic in the after taste. Hop flavors are hay and some pine but largely muted. IPA strength alpha acids, very earthy. Rather disappointing.

Drinkable, medium bodied with carbonation that is average to overdone. Alcohol is hidden well. Drying and earthy bitterness makes the mouthwater a bit leaving the grainy notes and alcohol to lay across the tongue.

By my standards this is an amber and a pretty poor one, lots of playful fruit comes out with a drying bitterness but the malt is grainy and porous and the hops are just not there. Caldera is one of those breweries that has faded from memory recently. Their standard IPA in a can a much better representative of what they can do with hops.

A: A medium copper beer with decent clarity. The off-white head produces a good head stand with mostly cream and somewhat rocky bubbles having a good retention.

S: A medium citrus hops aroma with a grassy, dry hopped aroma on a moderate bread and caramel malt canvas.

T: A strong citrus hops flavor with an assertive hops bitterness that is balanced by a moderate caramel malt sweetness with a light bready character. There is light bit of fruity esters but it seems like your clean Chico yeast profile. The balance is very bitter with a lingering citrusy, hops aftertaste and an off dry finish.

M: A creamy, medium bodied beer with strong carbonation and slight astringency.

O: Say hello to the citrusy centennial hops in all it glory with this one. I had kind of grown weary of a straight centennial IPA with it's tendency to get harsh before it added enough bitterness, flavor and aroma for my like which is not the case here. Some additional aroma hops would be welcome but it a solid beer and I'm glad I tried it. The bomber price of $6.99 isn't too bad either.
