Pours deep and dark brown with deep ruby hue,a thick creamy-like beige head atop that takes its time settling into a frothy mass, rich color and a great well defined head.Vanilla lingers in the nose along praline and toasted oak.A rich creamy feel to the beer it just glides down effortlessly.Caramel/vanilla flavors abound with the chocolate and bourbon flavors playing a small role not hammering you over the head, again praline comes to mind with a tinge of nuttiness, mild roast brings it all together really well. With a beer of this style that's bourbon barrel aged alot of times it tastes like chocolate and bourbon, this goes in a different direction all together and I think it's great. One of the top beers of 2014 for me so far.

22 oz bottle into a tulip. From notes.

A: Pours a very dark red color; this is one of the lighter porters I've seen in a while The head is a one finger mocha shade, with decent retention. Not much lacing is left on the glass.

S: It's quite oaky to start. More and more chocolate comes out when it's allowed to warm up. My big complaint about the aroma is how perfumey it seems - otherwise, it's not bad.

T: Better than the aroma. Oak hits the palate first before chocolate notes subtly appear around the midtaste. The first couple of sips are problematic - they seem to have far too much perfume, but after a few more sips, that note goes away to reveal a really nice, easy-going porter. A slight finish of brown sugar rounds the beer out.

M: This one feels pretty light, and dry to boot. While it's not highly carbonated, it's still really easy to drink at the end of the day.

O: A good porter that really grew on me the more I drank it. Worth its high price tag? Nah, not really. Worth sampling? Absolutely. If this cut out some of those perfume notes, then it would be out of this world.

A-Black in the glass but clear brown when pouring. One finger off white head

S-Oak, woof, roasted malt, mild chocolate.

T-Too sweet. The chocolate is very sweet, not like a dark chocolate. Some oak and roasted malt, but it takes a back seat to the chocolate.

M-Medium bodied, good deal of carbonation.

O-Too sweet and for the price not worth it.
