Sampled from a 500ml bottle purchased from Cost Cutter in Ullapool.

The beer poured a dark amber colour with a white head, however this displayed very poor retention.

The beer has a very sweet nose; mainly dominated by malts with a further scent of toffee and caramel. The malts and toffee continue through to the taste with a nutty and biscuit aftertaste, leaving a slightly dry feeling in the mouth.

The beer has a very light body, surprising for a dark Scottish beer. However I could drink this all night. This reminded me of the Ale of Athol, which seems to be a love or hate type. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but this is not to everyone's taste.

500ml bottle bought from GapWines, Carrickfergus...

Poured a clear coppery amber colour. Slightly off white head poured fairly thick and foamy with a frothy topping then faded quickly to patchy covering with thick edging that climbs up the glass... some light lacing lines...

Aroma - Lots of toffee maltiness, cut wet grass with a hint of the countryside, quite nutty, some buttery hints, toffee apples, toasted bread, light vegetal traces, citrus hop notes...

Taste pretty much mirrors the aroma... lots of nutty caramel hints backed by quite strong grassy hops... quite metallic, some apples and light ripe pear fruitiness, buttery traces...

M&D - Quite smooth with a little bite underneath... light / medium bodied... A good sessionable brew at only 4.8%...

Overall - A pretty good brew - nothing too exciting drinkable enough.. worth a try..
