Poured from a half-litre bottle into a glass at the Ardbeg distillery.

A: Dark bronze. Light head.

S: Cheesy? Sort of like a cask ale. Greatly hopped. Fruity malts.

T: Pleasant...just crisp enough. A great fruitiness and light, dry hops.

M: Medium-bodied and good-ish.

O: Pretty good beer. Recommended.

I sampled this in cask form at the 4th Ullapool Beer Festival.

Nostalga ahoy, I was overjoyed when I heard the name of this ale as Angus Og was one of my favourite cartoon characters growing up, I was sad to see that he was not on the label.

The beer poured very nicely into a pint mug: an amber brown colour with a decent off white head that displayed excellent retention and showed good lacing all the way down the glass.

Hops and berries dominate the nose, but the first feeling is of surprise; I expected this, coming from Islay, to be malty and smokey. However this definately smell and tastes more like an English bitter.

The taste is well balanced with hops and a slight malty sweetness and works well with the slightly heavier than medium body.

Overall a good beer, not distingtive enough for me to drink all night. Very pleasant but not what I expected.

Coming in a 500ml brown bottle, bottle-conditioned; BB 05/2008, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass.

A: dark amber, fizzy outlook, topped with a spongey off-white head with good retention.
S: Golding's orangey citrusness sits on top of a mildly chocolatey & sticky maltiness with a touch of hays and floral scents - not so complex, but intense and pleasant enough.
T: the initially effervescent swallow of mildly biscuity pale malts and sour-sweet fruits fast succombs to a wave of bitter and citric-zesty hoppiness added with a slightly herbal edge; the aftertaste remains zesty-bitter, flat-in-structure, and quite chewy thanks to the strong hints of yeast sediments, lending a good depth to the overall flavour.
M&D: the mouthfeel is lively and refreshing, albeit slightly too spritzy for my palate, while the chewy bitterness does render a more-ish feel. Not bad, but not as impressive as the other two sister products I've tried (Dun Hogs Head and Nerabus). Somehow it reminds me of RCH's Pitchfork in its bottle-conditioned version~~
