Part of a 6 day tour through Michigan visiting local breweries. This store looks average and ordinary from the outside. Walked in and was taken away by all the inventory this place packs in. Great selection of Michigan beers and crafts. Did not find a Rogue that I was looking for but the guy behind the counter recommended a harvest ale that was excellent. I was allowed to take and mix any beers out of their 6 packs…neat! The beers were organized by geography and judging from the traffic I would assume were regularly rotated.

Recommend this place very much! Cheers!

I visited this establishment while visiting my niece over the fourth of July weekend. The store, located in a strip-mall, is small but every inch of the establishment is utilized well. As someone has already pointed out, you are greeted by single bottles of imports as soon as you enter. The craft/micro selection is in the back of the store and is a bit haphazard and overwhelming. The cooler section is packed and includes about four doors of offerings. The warm selections are on shelfs and large carts and not in any order. However, it is enjoyable to take some time and discover what is available: all of the standard Michigan offerings as well as Anchor brewing and Bear Republic. I was surprised to see Victory brewing company and Stoudts represented. I also have to echo an earlier reviewer's caveat, there are some selections that are clearly past their prime. While I was there no employee asked me if I needed help and I did not go out of my way to seek assistance. The only other place I visted was the Meijer store down the road, and it was also very impressive.

One of the few stores we stopped in during our trip to GR.

Pretty much looks and feels like any other liquor store. However the service and beer selection tell me otherwise. Now Michigan doesn't get that much different stuff than Milwaukee so I wasn't floored but the selection was very nice. Tons of Short's stuff which was awesome. The fact that you can break any sixer in the place was completely foreign to me. I had never seen anything like it. I made several mixed sixers for myself and grabbed a few bombers too.

The guys working there are super friendly and knowledgeable about beer. They knew sweem so they were probably a bit more friendly to us but they seemed genuine. I would have no problem going back here next time I'm in town.

Was in Grand Rapids over the past weekend and had read good reviews of this place. Seeing it was quite close to my hotel, it was no problem stopping in.

What an amazing store for beer. A great collection of all kinds of Michigan brewers. Especially loved the Dark Horse and Short's collections. Like others have said, being able to break up the six packs into singles is great and gives you the chance to try before you commit to the whole six pack.

Store is laid out very well, with all brews from each brewer right beside each other. Very clean and well laid out.

To me, what really makes the store is Rishi, the owner. Boy he knows his stuff and is super friendly. He has a vast knowledge of the products and is more than willing to go out of his way to help you find what you want or even something that you need to have that you didn't know about.

Definitely worth checking out and I'll return when I'm back in the area.

Stopped by on my way through for the KBS release party at Founders.

Very impressed with this place. They had a great selection of Michigan beers as would be expected (Founders, Bells, Short's, etc.) as well as a great selection from across the US. All 6 packs could be broken up and purchased as individual bottles, which allowed me to grab a great selection of Short's beer, which they had a lot of.

The service here is what really makes it stand out. I wish I had gotten the guy's name that was behind the counter. He was extremely helpful with beer suggestions and VERY FRIENDLY. It seemed like he had personally tried every single beer he was selling! I will definitely return here some day.

Prices were average.

Q- This place packs a lot of beer in a small space. They had every macro and a great amount of craft beers as well.

S-Guy at the counter gave me recommendations with very beer I picked out (ageing, drink now) as well as the tasting notes to go with it. Everything seemed stocked to the brim

S-Best selection of Short's I found in Michigan. They had alot of the other MI brewers as well. Tons of Bells and Foudners, Arcadia, etc. Highly recommend this place.

V-Very reasonable and This would be my go-to if I leaved nearby

Nice surprise! Stopped by this place on a recommendation and I'm glad I did. Very well stocked store, almost too well because the isles are very tight to navigate through. The selection is fantastic; the beers are well organized. I completely missed the Belgium section but caught it on my way out, glad I did! They do singles of everything in the store, one of the best Michigan beer selections I have seen. I walked out with a case of wine and a couple cases of mix and match beers. The service is wonderful, the selection is great...highly recommend it!

My only gripe although it may be perceived is that I think prices here were slightly higher than other places (hence not a pefect score). Otherwise service was first class all the way, perhaps the best ever in that regard and they had very good selection... maybe only missing a couple I found in other places. If I can recall, they allowed singles, but by that time I really wanted some Shorts (although I did pick up some singles from smaller breweries as well). If you need something and don't want to look around, this is a great place. Did I mention the exceptional customer service there? Seriously, the people who work there you would like to sit and have a beer with. Probably will be back again if in the area.

Atmosphere: It doesn't matter who is behind the counter, I always feel more than welcome when I walk in. I like spending time here although it can get crowded very quickly.

Quality: Every bottle in the store looked fresh, no overly dusty stuff. No hidden corners in here that it looks like a beer could be forgotten for a long period of time. The cooler is filled with a lot of BMC stuff, but half of it is micros.

Service: The help here is great. Greeted with a handshake and a smile after the first couple visits. I always browse a little and ask for some recommendations and the employees seem to know every beer (and wine) in and out. They always ask how I enjoyed my last purchase.

Selection: IBS always has lots of locals, mainly Bells, Founders, and Shorts. They also have plenty of the harder to find stuff, but they always go fast. I can always count on this place to have a few bottles that I can't find anywhere else. They store is fairly small, but what they do have is great.

Value: Good, not great. A little on the higher end when compared to some of the other stores that I visit.

I was recommended by a friend a few years back to stop by this store and have each time when I've been in the area. Each time it seems like a new adventure as no matter when I go in there are always something new to try and to check out.

One can be amazed on how many different styles, brands and the great selection offered by this place. When walking into the store, you're presented with a great selection of Belgian imports and more abv per beer styles on the right. When walking towards the back you're presented with a huge selection of local, imports and "domestic" styles. Pretty much something for everyone. Also love the fact that you can make your own 6 packs, which is perfect for trying new things

the service is exceptional too..each time I've been there, I was greeted with a friendly hello and each of the clerks were very helpful. The owner especially knows his beer and do what he can to make sure that you're happy and find what you need. A true definition of great service

the only problem I have of the place, which I just noticed mainly yesterday when I went, was the overall quality of product being presented. I picked up at least 5 beers that had an "best by" date of early this past spring, one even being jan! Now normally that's not a problem if they are great beers to age...but these were regular seasonals and normal beers such as Shorts Black Licorice. Judging by how the selections were combed over, it kind of surprised me that the stock wasn't more maintained, let alone up to date

Overall not a bad place to go and a great place to get new beers that just are arriving..just make sure to look at the dates before purchasing though and enjoy!

What a pleasant surprise! Stopped by looking for beer making supplies and walked out with a trunk full of beer. Deceiving from the outside, but inside is an outstanding selection of what seemed to be well attended to beer. The service was excellent, very knowledgeable. Mix your own six ...two thumbs up! Bought a couple of sixes of half off Belgium beers, was expecting half the quality but will be going back for more.

Overall I would recommend this to all, they did not have Kuhnhenn beers in stock, I asked and the clerk called the brewery as I was finishing my request!

Went in with high expectations based on the other reviews, and those expectations were met.

Quality: good. Nothing too dusty or dirty to indicate they had been sitting for too long. I've had just a few of the dozen I bought there, but all have been fresh.

Service: Rishi really is top notch when it comes to friendly help in a beer store. Went in looking first for craft cans, and he reeled off a list off the top of his head that turned out to be complete (note to boaters and beachers who need their good beer available in cans: they don't carry any more canned brands than the norm for the area).

Selection: very good. Found and bought several brands that I haven't seen down here in Kzoo. Most BA'ers will love that Rishi encourages mixing up your own six packs from his wide selection.

Value: on par with the market.

Wish I lived closer...if I did I would be a regular.

I had been to this place years ago when I lived very close and just went again recently. It is convenient to 28th street so not sure why I haven't been in more often but will make it a point to do so.

Rishi is very welcoming and really knows his stuff. What I liked best was that he offered to help, and after I said I was going to look for a while, just let me be like some other places won't...after brining them up to the counter, he helped me find another I was looking for, but even better, rather than just complimenting the selection as most of us probably get, he talked about them, my likes, and then suggested a few other beers (two of which weren't even on the shelf yet.) Not pushy at all and very much appreciated.

This place has most of anything you will want and all in one place. IBS to me is much more convenient to where the wife shops than Siciliano's so after seeing the huge selection, I will likely be stopping in here much more often.

I now exclusively go to Int'l Beverage. When I buy booze anywhere else, I feel like I'm cheating. Their selection is unmatched in Grand Rapids and their prices are far fairer than places that might come close. They are continuously getting new beers in, and notify you which ones through their weekly email. I'd guesstimate they get about 3 or so new types of beers each week. Their email also has a Beer Style of the Week feature, which is purely educational and interesting, offering a history of various types of beers and recommendations of brands of that style.
Since the first day I walked in there I've felt welcome and the employees have even become my friends. They have yet to let me down in recommending me a new beer. I suggest this place to everyone I know and to anyone who appreciates a good brew or is looking to start buying better beer

Stopped here on my way through Grand Rapids on a recommendation. This is an impressive store, as you walk in there is a beautiful wall of Belgium and import cork finished bottles on your right. The back half of the store is all beer. For the most part this is a very organized and well laid out store. Their selection of Michigan beers is amazing not to mention the prices are very fair as compared to other retailers that I visited. Every beer is available in singles; you can take a single beer right out of any six packs to build your own. The service was excellent; I was greeted as I walked in and talked about IPAs with the clerk who was very helpful in picking out some wonderful Michigan brews. Shook my hand on the way out and had me join their email list.

One of the most notable stops during my trip...wish they had one of these in Oak Park!

Awesome place! Stopped in before attending the Local First party downtown. Great selection of craft beers from all over the country! Imports and macro's if you are lost. The owner, Rashi, really loves and knows his beers! Need a recommendation on a new beer to try? Just ask Rashi and he'll show you the way!

The place also sells wine and liquor. Found some wicked good deals on Svedka Vodka and Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka (1.75L botltle).

I will definitely stop in at this place every time I visit Grand Rapids! Great business to frequent!

This was on the list of planned stops while in Grand Rapids. For the record...I cannot believe how many good beer stores this area has...even little, unassuming places have a great selection!

The first thing you notice is the beer lining the half wall along the entryway. All imports...one of the best selections around (from what I've seen). The back wall houses coolers that contain random singles and sixers. They do have a lot of Macro stuff cold, but I am sure it sells...

There are shelves lined with domestic craft and locals along the rear of the store. You can mix and match six packs or buy a full six...your choice. For me, as a Pittsburgher, the highlight was seeing a six pack of Iron City sitting between the DFH and Victory...got the pic to prove it!

The guy behind the counter was friendly and pretty much left me alone once he asked if I needed anything.

Another store that I would frequent if I was a local. A good one to keep an eye on...

Made it here for the first time a few weeks ago while looking for more Short's brews. It was the first place that I was able to find many of the beers that I was looking for, i.e. Short's smoked apple, golden rule, liberator and Dark Horse Plead the Fifth. They have good prices and selection of stuff.

The only real issue that I have is the cooler space being wasted with macro beer, but I understand that not everyone that comes in is looking the same great beers that I am.

Great stop along 28th street

I had high expectations going in after hearing the good things that Sweemzander had to say on our way there from Martha's.
They were met.
There was beer all over the place inside this seemingly standard liquor store. This place is one of the reasons I try to go into every little dumpy looking liquor store I see; a total diamond in the rough. From memory, beer took up close to half the store and was, for the most part, stored in the back. The only complaint that I can really give to this place is the storage of imports and Belgian beer right near the front windows. Yeouch.

Besides that, there were coolers lining the back walls but most of the stock was on shelves. Another great surprise was that you could take any bottle from any six pack and make your own mix pack. They charged a small premium for that, but it's a price I was willing to pay for some of the stuff I snagged there.

From the quick notes I jotted down there was DFH Burton Baton, Harpoon, Great Divide, Flying Dog, tons of Bell's (lots of Hopslam), Founders, and the like. Avery, and a few local breweries I had never heard of before.

Along the top of the fridges read a sign, "Home of the lowest prices allowed by law. *750 ml and above" I laughed at first, but the prices were pretty solid, competition-wise.

I already forget the gentleman's name who worked behind the counter, but he was pretty awesome to talk to. Helpful right away and talked about the store as well as some of his personal preferences on beers.

Again, it's another stop I'll probably have to make when I'm in Grand Rapids. If not to pick up beer, to at least say hi and chat for a bit. Highly recommended but be careful of the beer close to the front windows.

Stopped in a few weeks ago for the first time. Great place! I was able to find some nice DFH bottles that I have not been able to find anywhere else in Grand Rapids. I also saw a great row of all big bottles with DFH, Stone, Rouge, New Holland, Brooklyn Local 1, SN Harvest series, and many more.

The owner was very helpful and great to talk to. I went to check out and we ended up walking through the entire store again talking about our favorite beers, breweries, and beers we want to try. I also watched him as he took a customer around and made a custom 6-pack of his personal favorite stouts.

Overall, great selection, awesome service, worth checking out if you're in the area.

This store is great. I just happened to stop in after the KBS party and I am mad at myself for never stopping in prior to this. The worker was helpful, the prices were fair, and the selection was great. Want a single bottle of anything? No problem they will do that for you. I only wish I lived closer as this would become my go to liquor store. I was thinking it was mainly a wine store, however this place can stand with the best stores as being a microbrew shop. This store wasn't cramped, smelly and dark like that other shop on the other side of town.

I learned about this place from people at the winter fest beer tasting. Everyone serving the beer at the event spoke very highly of International Beverage. I have lived in Grand Rapids for a long time but had never stopped in. My parents buy a lot of wine from this place so I guess I always figured it to be a wine shop. Wow! Was I wrong!! The beer selection was absolutely fantastic and well organized. I usually do all my beer shopping at Siciliano's. Overall Siciliano's probably has just a touch more beer, but I felt this place had better beer. The Belgian beer selection was maybe the best I have ever seen. I'm picky about dates and the beer seemed much fresher than most stores in the area. The staff was very helpful, Adam helped me with the beer and I even picked up a bottle of wine for my parents thanks to Rashi!
Bottom line I couldn't believe that I had not visited this place earlier...I would give the beer part of the store a solid A and overall store an A+. It is a one stop shop for those with that enjoy good beer and good wine!

Stopped in on a whim, after checking on ba for local beer shops I hadn't yet checked out.

The front of the store was mostly wine, but the back is filled with plenty of great selections. Not a lot of cooler space, most of the selections were warm on the shelf. Not a huge deal, but they could benefit from more cold selections. Picked up an empty 6 pack, and filled it up. All Founders 6-packs were priced on sale, always a good thing. Also noticed 6-packs of Hopslam were 15.99, about $5 cheaper than most other places I've seen. Noticed a selection of Jolly Pumpkin Ales, and picked one up to try. Got to the counter, and the man behind it introduced himself and his co-worker. I believe Rishi and Adam. Shook my hand, and complimented my beer selections. Wanted to make sure I let him know what I thought of the Jolly Pumpkin Dark Dawn Stout. Ended up signing up for their mailing list, and they promised to send out notifications whenever rare beers came in.

Very friendly, enthusiastic service. I will be returning to check out what other great selections they may have next time.

Part of a well planned Grand Rapids beer expedition. Nice selection. Had some things I didn't find at Siciliano's. Probably need to hit up both to find everything you're looking for. Adam was very helpful, knew his beers very well. Picked up the stout series from Dark Horse that I hadn't seen elsewhere. Lots of Michigan beers, Belgians, Lagunitas. Prices seemed pretty reasonable. Picked up about two cases of Michigan beers and some other tasty offerings I hadn't found elsewhere. Overall definitely worth a stop to fill your trunk with beer.

International beverage is probably my favorite beer store in the actual city of GR; they have a good selection (not as big as Siciliano's, but better stuff in my opinion) and the service is really good - they'll take to you for hours about beers if you want to. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, I plan to do most of my beer shopping here in the future. Pricewise I would say that they are similar to other area beer stores, maybe a little bit higher than Siciliano's but cheaper than B&B down on 28th street.
