Made it here for the first time a few weeks ago while looking for more Short's brews. It was the first place that I was able to find many of the beers that I was looking for, i.e. Short's smoked apple, golden rule, liberator and Dark Horse Plead the Fifth. They have good prices and selection of stuff.

The only real issue that I have is the cooler space being wasted with macro beer, but I understand that not everyone that comes in is looking the same great beers that I am.

Great stop along 28th street

I had high expectations going in after hearing the good things that Sweemzander had to say on our way there from Martha's.
They were met.
There was beer all over the place inside this seemingly standard liquor store. This place is one of the reasons I try to go into every little dumpy looking liquor store I see; a total diamond in the rough. From memory, beer took up close to half the store and was, for the most part, stored in the back. The only complaint that I can really give to this place is the storage of imports and Belgian beer right near the front windows. Yeouch.

Besides that, there were coolers lining the back walls but most of the stock was on shelves. Another great surprise was that you could take any bottle from any six pack and make your own mix pack. They charged a small premium for that, but it's a price I was willing to pay for some of the stuff I snagged there.

From the quick notes I jotted down there was DFH Burton Baton, Harpoon, Great Divide, Flying Dog, tons of Bell's (lots of Hopslam), Founders, and the like. Avery, and a few local breweries I had never heard of before.

Along the top of the fridges read a sign, "Home of the lowest prices allowed by law. *750 ml and above" I laughed at first, but the prices were pretty solid, competition-wise.

I already forget the gentleman's name who worked behind the counter, but he was pretty awesome to talk to. Helpful right away and talked about the store as well as some of his personal preferences on beers.

Again, it's another stop I'll probably have to make when I'm in Grand Rapids. If not to pick up beer, to at least say hi and chat for a bit. Highly recommended but be careful of the beer close to the front windows.

Stopped in a few weeks ago for the first time. Great place! I was able to find some nice DFH bottles that I have not been able to find anywhere else in Grand Rapids. I also saw a great row of all big bottles with DFH, Stone, Rouge, New Holland, Brooklyn Local 1, SN Harvest series, and many more.

The owner was very helpful and great to talk to. I went to check out and we ended up walking through the entire store again talking about our favorite beers, breweries, and beers we want to try. I also watched him as he took a customer around and made a custom 6-pack of his personal favorite stouts.

Overall, great selection, awesome service, worth checking out if you're in the area.

This store is great. I just happened to stop in after the KBS party and I am mad at myself for never stopping in prior to this. The worker was helpful, the prices were fair, and the selection was great. Want a single bottle of anything? No problem they will do that for you. I only wish I lived closer as this would become my go to liquor store. I was thinking it was mainly a wine store, however this place can stand with the best stores as being a microbrew shop. This store wasn't cramped, smelly and dark like that other shop on the other side of town.

I learned about this place from people at the winter fest beer tasting. Everyone serving the beer at the event spoke very highly of International Beverage. I have lived in Grand Rapids for a long time but had never stopped in. My parents buy a lot of wine from this place so I guess I always figured it to be a wine shop. Wow! Was I wrong!! The beer selection was absolutely fantastic and well organized. I usually do all my beer shopping at Siciliano's. Overall Siciliano's probably has just a touch more beer, but I felt this place had better beer. The Belgian beer selection was maybe the best I have ever seen. I'm picky about dates and the beer seemed much fresher than most stores in the area. The staff was very helpful, Adam helped me with the beer and I even picked up a bottle of wine for my parents thanks to Rashi!
Bottom line I couldn't believe that I had not visited this place earlier...I would give the beer part of the store a solid A and overall store an A+. It is a one stop shop for those with that enjoy good beer and good wine!

Stopped in on a whim, after checking on ba for local beer shops I hadn't yet checked out.

The front of the store was mostly wine, but the back is filled with plenty of great selections. Not a lot of cooler space, most of the selections were warm on the shelf. Not a huge deal, but they could benefit from more cold selections. Picked up an empty 6 pack, and filled it up. All Founders 6-packs were priced on sale, always a good thing. Also noticed 6-packs of Hopslam were 15.99, about $5 cheaper than most other places I've seen. Noticed a selection of Jolly Pumpkin Ales, and picked one up to try. Got to the counter, and the man behind it introduced himself and his co-worker. I believe Rishi and Adam. Shook my hand, and complimented my beer selections. Wanted to make sure I let him know what I thought of the Jolly Pumpkin Dark Dawn Stout. Ended up signing up for their mailing list, and they promised to send out notifications whenever rare beers came in.

Very friendly, enthusiastic service. I will be returning to check out what other great selections they may have next time.

Part of a well planned Grand Rapids beer expedition. Nice selection. Had some things I didn't find at Siciliano's. Probably need to hit up both to find everything you're looking for. Adam was very helpful, knew his beers very well. Picked up the stout series from Dark Horse that I hadn't seen elsewhere. Lots of Michigan beers, Belgians, Lagunitas. Prices seemed pretty reasonable. Picked up about two cases of Michigan beers and some other tasty offerings I hadn't found elsewhere. Overall definitely worth a stop to fill your trunk with beer.

International beverage is probably my favorite beer store in the actual city of GR; they have a good selection (not as big as Siciliano's, but better stuff in my opinion) and the service is really good - they'll take to you for hours about beers if you want to. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, I plan to do most of my beer shopping here in the future. Pricewise I would say that they are similar to other area beer stores, maybe a little bit higher than Siciliano's but cheaper than B&B down on 28th street.

International Beverage has a decent selection with single service and reasonable prices. The man behind the counter seems to be enthusiastic about brews, and plays jazz in the store, which is always a plus. One major flaw with this place is that they break apart gift packs to sell the glassware... Despicable. I get all of my bar supplies through these gift packs, and they are Cheating us out of the deal. That said, they have a decent selection of Belgian and English ales, and a great variety of Michigan brews. the German selection is a bit scarce though. Overall, worth a trip.

I stopped here basically because I saw it next to my hotel, not my usual method (beerfly before arrival). What a find, this store is seriously good at making quality beer available to those who need it. You can break apart any 6-pack and they'll sell it to you for the pro-rated 6-pack price per bottle, plus 15 cents. A great practice that I'd like to see more often, you can try singles before committing to a sixer without getting gouged for the privelege.

I estimate about 400-500 beers worth of selection, maybe more. Strong stock of locals such as Bells, Founders, and New Holland. Also tons of other USA craft brews, Belgians, and other European beers. Prices were about average for MI, very reasonable.

I frequent this establishment on a weekly basis.
The manager is very friendly and helpful; he could probably tell you about every beer they have in the store!
Great local selections with ample belgians to choose from as well as some harder to find stuff from other breweries nationwide.

You can do a mix and match 6pk with ANY BEER IN THE STORE! Provided that it itself is in a 6pk to begin with.

Superb service and fantastic price to selection all-around an awesome local beer stop to get your fix!

Read the reviews and stopped by on the way from the airport to the beach. As with many of the good beer stores, it is located in a plain vanilla strip center, the exterior offering no clue as to what lies within.

A nice selection of Belgians and other single bombers right upon entering. A good offering of Michigan brews as well.

Decently organized with friendly service on a Saturday morning. Left with 3 bombers and a 4 pack of Devil Dancer.

Siciliano's seems to have a larger selection but IBS did not feel as cramped. Siciliano's is also on the west side of town while IBS is over by the airport on the east.

Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Probably the largest selection of brews in Grand Rapids. More cooler space than other local stores as well. They know beer, and carry just about all available craft beers.

Prices are a bit higher that other area stores, except Founders which is always "on sale" for $7.99/six pack. They support the local guy and I like that.

They seem to stock a lot of out-of-date seasonals like 2005 Oktoberfest in August 2006. I'll bet that the quality is still fine however.

They also have a huge wine selection, if you're so warped. :-)

I stop in to this store in Grand Rapids once in a while when I'm driving by. They have a HUGE selection of beer, and a also a large selection of wines. I've never really stumbled through the wine aisles, so I can't comment on that aspect. But the beer selection is tremendous. This place carries almost every local beer I know of. The pricing can be either hot or cold. Overall, I would say its a little pricey, but they do always have 1 or 2 items on sale for dirt cheap... probably due to overstock I would imagine. Always the same friendly guy behind the counter, although he'll say anything is good just to get you to buy it. Nice store here, stop in and check out the selection if your ever in the area.

This place was representing hardcore with huge Founders posters adorning the windows. Inside you can find a decent chunk of brews. Full cases of Founders were stacked on the floors. I think they had most of the Dark Horse family ( notably Thirsty Trout that I had not run into prior to stopping in ). A semi rectangle of warm sixers representing a fair selection lies across from the cooler. Nothing to get all excited about really. They have a little import section which I passed up in favor of checking out the American areas. The cooler didn't have much going on inside. Most of the stock was on the warm shelf. No friggin singles except for some foreign stock immediately inside the door. This is disappointing. I did not see anything there that I wanted a quantity of, so I made no purchase. An alright place to go if you want commonly found sixpacks. Nothing to call mom about.

As kleing said this is part party store/part beer store. Only one worker working behind the counter. He will help if asked a question but he doesn't usually volunteer his services. And he always says that the beer is excellent, i dont know if he's even tried it, because he's never descriptive on why it's supposedly so good. They have a really good micro selection and a solid Belgian selection. Their stuff doesn't really move too well, i got a 2002 Bell's Rye Stout just last week! But I go sometimes to see what new Belgian's they have, some I don't see anywhere else in GR.
