Bottleworks is the best beer monger in the US I have had the pleasure to patronize. I did my research prior to visit by looking at their website. Even though they did not carry many of the beers listed on their site, I was not disappointed. The selection is great, the beer was well displayed and the staff was friendly and helpful. The availability of singles was great and they even broke up six packs that many other stores would have not. A great experience, although I was unable to keep myself from spending the GDP of a small nation.

Bottleworks is a Seattle beer institution, but they have some stiff competition these days. Where they shine is the depth of their cellar and their special relationships with breweries up and down the West Coast (and probably beyond). Their anniversary events and beers are legendary. I'm not crazy about the dark, cave-like atmosphere (or the choice of music most days) and their 21+ policy is a bit inconvenient if I want to just run in and grab a few bottles but have the kid in tow. But if a certain beer comes out you can almost be assured that BW will have it -- and also that they'll likely sell out before any other store in town. Staff is helpful if you need help. Prices are on par with other places.
