Picked this up @ Wegmans during a visit upstate.

A - Really good looking coming out of the bottle. Nice copper color with a good two finger head that dissipated to leave a nice lace around the top of the glass.

S - A nice scent of floral hops, but also a slight hint of alcohol that is a little off putting.

T - I had high hopes for this, but it just wasn't there. The hop profile seemed slightly off, really tasted more like a triple than an IPA.

D - Goes down easy but the 8% ABV is noticeable.

M - Very thin, almost flat tasting. It was well carbonated and the head was representing but it just wasn't what I thought it would be.

On draft at the brewpub.

Poured a deep copper hue with a two finger foamy white head. There was very good lacing and retention.

The smell featured a subtle hop and full earthy malt.

The taste consisted of heavy caramel and a less than adequate hop spice.

The mouthfeel was toward the fuller side of the style.

Overall an unimpressive DIPA.

not quite as blatantly hoppy as i like my big ipas, but this is still a good beer. my first brew from roosterfish pours a silty honey color with an inch of slowly relaxing white suds. the nose is more like an american pale ale, with more malt balance than most of the double ipas have. theres pale and crystal and even some caramely sweet malt to go with a citic hop aroma. the flavor indeed features the hops quite a bit more than the smell, but to me its lacking identity. i dont get a real citris kick, i dont get much pine or earthy stuff, and i certainly cant find any floral or fresh hop elements. i would have liked to see something a little more stand out, but that said, its a drinkable and unintimidating big ipa. alcohol is well concealed, and the finish is remarkably clean. good bubbles, medium body, sits a little heavier than that in the stomach and can be filling. not a bad beer from roosterfish, but nothing special. at the very least its enough to coax me into trying more of their beers in the future.

Pours a murky golden amber color with a big fizzy head that slowly settled into a fluffy head.

The aroma is of a bready malt with some candied tropical fruit/apricot notes. The beer has that big malt candied sweet aroma. The hops don't smell all that fresh.

The taste is of a bready malt, some toffee, not nearly as sweet as the aroma. More noticable grassy notes from the hops. Some light citrus and apricot but more grassy than anything else.

Moderate to full feel. The beer is quite dry which helps balance the bigger malt bill. Tons of grassy bitterness but it doesn't linger and the beer is quite drinkable.

Definitely a maltier DIPA or the hops faded. Flavor is better than the aroma and the brew is quite balanced. Hop heads won't like this as it is more of an EIPA flavor.
