Bottle, Tegnérs Gömställe, Stockholm, Sweden. A deep orange/brown colored beer with a small head. Expressive smells of chocolate, brown sugar, sugared fruits and caramel. Flavor has nice balance, lots of taste, mostly malt accented and possesses notes of caramel and nuts. Quite a nice beer.

2009 edition. Pours a hazy light brown with off-white head. Sweet malts and dark fruits on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with some funky malt. Just ok.

330 mL bottle poured into a Kate the Great snifter. 2009 bottle.
Appearance - Pours a clear amber with a strong reddish hue. Nice off white head for a beer of this gravity. Doesn't retain so well, but still an impressive showing.
Smell - Definitely has an alcohol aroma, but it isn't overpowering at all. Light malts in abundance, giving it a grainy aroma. Maybe some sherry and apple notes.
Taste - Much more of a light caramel flavor here. Just a hint of the darker sugars and a strong bready malt character. The apple aspect is less intense. Finishes with a hint of dryness and a strong bitterness.
Mouthfeel - Dry and very bitter. Not as boozy as I would have expected. It's a sipper, but I find myself finish it faster than I would have thought.
Overall - Tasty with an interesting take on the malt character. Shies away from being a standard caramel bomb of an English barleywine and instead goes for the slightly oxidized pale malt notes. Interesting and kinda nice.
