Quickly seated at 5:00 on a Saturday night. The atmosphere feels less like a brewpub and more like an Appleby's, but not bad. The service was friendly but less than stellar. The server took too long to take our order and didn't seem to know anything at all about beer. The beer also failed to impress. It was nice to see a kolsch and a keller being offered, but they both were quite mediocre; an attempt at a Belgian pale ale was a bit off, and the only thing worth drinking was a coffee porter. Out of seven beers offered, five were under 5% ABV. A bit more variety in styles would have been nice. The food was typical American cuisine, but was pretty decent. I'd go back here again, but only if I just happened to be in the neighborhood.

I hadn't been to Rocky River Brewing in at least five years, so I decided to revisit this joint. It has a chain restaurant feel to it, except a tad nicer. They have a deck to enjoy the weather, but I heard children out there as I approached, so my date and I sat at the bar. They have a pretty long bar and plenty of tables to accommodate a good sized crowd. I arrived about noon on Saturday. I was promptly greeted by the bartender. They had seven in house beers on tap. I choose a sampler of six of them. I passed on the Pirate Light. I had an IPA, an altbier, a blueberry ale, a vanilla porter, a kolsch, and a peanut butter amber, which was interesting.
There menu had several interesting appetizers and some good pub fare. We started out with Asian nachos which were tasty and different. My date ordered a chicken sandwich, which she enjoyed and I got buffalo chicken egg rolls since I ate most of the nachos. The buffalo egg rolls were amazing. Spicy, buffalo chicken and blue cheese. It don't get no better! The food was really slow coming out. The bartender said that ticket times were 45 minutes and the place was not even full.
Overall, I would say the food outweighs the beer. They did have three or four guest taps that I failed to pay attention to. I highly recommend this place for a meal. Don't expect to be blown away by the beer though. It is definitely worth a stop. It was family friendly because there were a lot of people there with their children.
