Mai 2012: On tap at HaandBryggeriet Beer Festival, Drammen. Pitch black colour, brown head. Lovely complex aroma, cognac, oak, vanilla, roasty notes (coffee, liquorice). Excellent flavour, medium sweet and distinctly roasty, notes of cognac, oak, coffee, caramel and liquorice. Top notch!

250 mL bottle. Black, with a little transparency at the edges. Smells of fruity barrel notes. Oak, cognac, roasted malt. Tastes very similar. Fruity cognac up front. Oak, roasted malt, earthy tones, and more of the fruity barrel notes. Licorice malt flavor through the back end. Medium heavy with low carbonation. A delicious stout. The barrel is a little strong. I think I have a greater appreciation for the stout behind the barrel more than the barrel.

Overall one of the best beers from Narke with some peatyness in the beer. Drank this one side by side with a Hel & Verdoemenis 666 from the Molen. They were quit equal...

Bottle at Akkurat
Pours an inky, oily black. Big fluffy tan head. Good head retention.
The aroma is balanced. Solid porter aromas of chocolate and light coffee. Touches of alcohol. Cognac and barrel are there but in balance.
The flavour delivers too. Alcoholic porter with touches of chocolate, dark fruit and malt. Alcohol and cognac barrel follow in their fruity, vanilla magnificence.
Medium-full body with a richness that is there but never cloying.
A wonderfully balanced beer. This delivers on so many levels. The layering of flavours is just right and makes for something truly special.

2010 Anniversary collaboration edition to celebrate Akkurat anniversary. Drank a bottle in 2014 at Akkurat/Stockholm. More than met the hype. Extraordinary Cognac BA RIS. Black/hints of dark scarlet to light. Beautiful creamy tan head. Nose and taste displayed rich toasty stout integrated with dried fruit old ale. Big alcohol; not distracting but easily facilitated sipping and enjoying the 25cl slowly over an hour. Superb crafting; very special brew.

Thanks to queens1130 for sharing this one at AndrewK's tasting.
Brewed 3/2010. Bottled 10/2010.
Pours an opaque black with no head. No lacing on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, smoked malt, cocoa, vanilla, and cognac aromas. Taste is much the same with smoke, char, and cognac flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and dry mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with a smoke presence that is more intense in the flavor.
