My first Ippigards beer to try.Poured a dark chocolate brown with a thinner quick to fade tannish colored head, bigtime dark roast coffee aromas seems almost coffee infused, light molasses-like sweetness and some earthy tones as well.Dry and roasty with minimal sweetness again the coffee element is big on the palate, the dryness makes it very drinkable, the light sweetness makes for a complete porter. This a very solid porter,if you like roasty porters this is for you.

Listed on bottle as Swedish farmhouse porter. I've had this style before. Pours black with virtually no head retention. Lightly roasted aroma. Fuller mouthfeel. Bold spicy taste, cardamon, a tad of ginger. "Sweetish" Very good drinkability.

500ml. Saw this on an out west online store and low and behold I found it at Brawleys. Pretty black pour, solid, layer of cream head.

Sweeter malt, caramel, chocolates. Maybe some molasses and slight earth, peat. Not a real strong aroma.

Taste nicely toasted malty. Caramel and cocoa, fairly dry. Earthyness goes into more roast and ash, cocoa bitterness.

It is a little thinner, but still pretty standard. Goes down very smooth, though not quite creamy.
A solid enough representation and a drinkable one at that.

I am not sure if this is retired, I found it at the store recently and it appeared to be a new item. All it says on the label is porter and Gott Ol Fran Dalarna/Swedish Farmhouse.

50cl stubby bomber style brown bottle.

It pours a dark brownish black with a fizzy dark tan head that leaves no lacing.

I was expecting a Baltic porter, but this one is a slightly roasty, slightly peaty and chocolatey English style porter.

The flavor is nice, it has a nice hoppines for a style that is well known for its benign and nondescript hop character. It is well balanced though, it has a huge roastiness and a nice subtle smoky peat. There is an increasing fruitness as you go. There is a bit of caramel in there too rounding it out into a fine, subtle but flavorful porter.

The mouthfeel is a bit overcarbonated for the style, but not absurdly so.

A: Pours a dark brown with a big, fluffy light brown head. Fades away, leaving only small specks of lacing behind. Decent retention.

S: Umami and smoke. Decent chocolate to go with it.

T: Creamy milk chocolate and umami up front. Just a little smoke, not much. Umami is fairly strong, peaking in the finish where it stands alone briefly. Get a little caramel in the middle sweetening it up a bit.

M: Surprisingly decent medium body for only 5.5% ABV.

O: Not a bad english porter, mellow and well put together. Very drinkable. Definite umami presence with just a little smoke lends a bit of BBQ'd meat character. It's not overpowering though. Overall nice and drinkable.

The beer is basic black and topped with a short cap of mocha foam. Decent head retention with a little bit of short lived lacing. Nice chocolatey, malty aroma with some vanilla and roast. Moderate bitterness from a combination of the hops and dark malts, fairly sweet but still balanced. Hop flavor was on the herbal side with hints of mint in the finish. Lots of chocolate and roast throughout. Full bodied with medium low carbonation, light astringency and a bit of a creamy texture. I enjoyed it and would pick it up again.

Pretty good brew. Let the bottle warm up some out of the fridge. Then I poured a thick, tan, creamy, foamy, frothy head that settled after a while and some lace. Color is a clear, yet near opaque red brown. Aroma is roast, malt, date, raisins, figs, cocoa. Flavor is less fruity and better than nose, although a little similar; it is slightly sweet, has just the right amount of carbonic tang, and the malt, yeast, and hop bitterness all balance to a good beer. Body is exactly right for this, soft yet enough tang to counter the softness, full, but not too; good going down. Finish is like flavor and a little short. I could drink lots more a these.

I was a little worried when I first started pouring this beer, as a massive amount of heading shot up, leading me to believe that there were some infection issues, but alas, it is just a heady beer. The color is dark brown, with a frothy tanned head. The nose is fairly muted, but does have elements of cola, char, anise and bitter chocolate. All of these meld together nicely in the flavor profile. The mouthfeel is the most impressive aspect of this beer, as it is incredibly smooth, round and easy drinking. Overall, this is a really interesting take on a Porter.
