If you're looking for a good beer selection look here no more. What used to be a really good beer selection has now become no more than four or five boring craft beers and several macros and mass produced imports.
There are still a few good selections like Highland St. Terese's Pale Ale, Foothills Salem Gold, and Smuttynose Robust Porter. The only IPA now is Highland Kashmir (didn't even check to see if it was still in stock). But gone is the 30-40 bottle list with items like DFH 90, Saison DuPont, and other gems. I split a bottle of wine with my wife for dinner.
Everything else here is still fantastic, it has just been reduced to a shell of its former self beer wise. Very sad in my opinion.

I've been here a few times, but have never reviewed it. Went there last night for my birthday, so let's remedy this. First off, I love the atmosphere of this place. I really dig the vibe, and I love the outdoor patio section (which is where we sat). The service every time I have been there has been timely and accommodating. The food has always been excellent as well. Two of the times I have been there (including last night) I have ordered one of their duck dishes. Both were excellent and perfectly cooked. No worries on the food end. As far as the beer selection goes, this is much more of a wine-forward place, and they admit that. At one time their beer selection may have rivaled some of the best in the city, but no more. There was a few from Highland, SA, SN, and a smattering of some of the cheaper European beers. Not that great. In lieu of the selection, I went with a nice Merlot instead. Not the best place for beer, but a great place for atmosphere, food, and wine.

Guess it's about time I get around to reviewing this place, since I've been here about 10 times.
This place is the result of an attempt to fun-ify downtown Winston Salem, much like Foothills and the upcoming Mellow Mushroom. The result?
A jazz-oriented bar/restaurant with a decent selection and from what I've heard, good food.
First off, I didn't give this bar as high of marks for atmosphere as some might, simply because I dislike jazz. Additionally, it can become VERY packed in there. Not much room for seating, and the bands they have in there play so loud you cant talk.... did I mentioned I hate jazz?
The quality of the place is alright. They seem to have the beer stored at proper temperature, and I've never had a bad beer there. However, the bartenders are uneducated concerning the brews, and focus more on their wine selection. I know, I know... its a wine-focused bar... but tough shnikes... educate your bartenders. The bartenders won't even give you a glass usually unless you expressly ask for one.
That being said, I've never had to wait long for a beer, even when it was extremely crowded. The waiters/bartenders seem to be friendly and eager to help... high marks there.
The selection in this place was pretty decent when it opened, but it has improved significantly. Last time I went (11/4/05) they had quite the nice bottle selection: Ayinger Celebrator, Weihenstephaner Hefe, Young's Double Chocolate, a few Flying Dog products, some Highland products, Lindemann's Framboise, Chimay (blue and red I think), and a few others (unfortunately including Stella... vomit).
Their tap selection was fairly limited (4 taps if I remember correctly). HOWEVER, they DID have Sierra Nevada Celebration on tap... so that got me excited. They also had a Highland product on tap, Red Oak, and maybe Warsteiner... something unimpressive like that.
All in all, a very welcome addition to Winston-Salem, and within a mile of Foothills and soon-to-come Mellow Mushroom.

A: I arrived on a busy friday night in july. I felt underdressed. It's obviously meant to be a winebar 1st & foremost. There were, however, a few surprises on tap & in bottle. It's very nice all across the board.
Q: They don't mess around. To post the prices they did (which wasn't over-the-top), it needs to be good ingredients & crafted well. I'm speaking mostly about the mixed drinks I ordered & the food I ate.
S: Nothing fantastic, but nothing to keep me from coming back.
F: Some of the better selection that I saw during my few months in Carolina.
V: Pricey for some things, but hey, most of us have paid almost $20 for a bomber of beer : )
Overall: This is the kind of place I take a girl on a first date. The night I was there, they had a small jazz combo playing lots of swing. It's not at the top of my list, but if I had the time, i'd swing in for a nightcap.
