Bloomingfoods has a small but always well stocked selection of mostly local and belgian beers. this place is a bit too far out of reach, and doesn't nearly have the selction that other stores do to be an immediate go-to place for beer. all of the beer is warm, as per Indiana state law regarding supermarkets. the only thing for which b-foods is particularly good is being a reserve place for Upland's lambics; b-foods always has them in stock, as I guess none of the customers are buying them. So if big red or sahara has run out, I'd definitely go here to check. the workers at all of the bloomingfoods seem to be pretty apathetic, and if you go to shop for beer, you're basically on your own.

Unfortunately, Bloomingfoods has made the mistake of making their beer selection limited and predictable, a good number being organic, as per the mantra of the grocery department (oddly, they do not offer some staple organics, such as the Pinkus lines).

Reason(s) to visit: a decent survey of the local breweries and some of the mid-western greats. Some excellent standards (Sammy Smith makes numerous appearances).

Bring extra cash with you, a pack of Bell's Two Hearted will run $10 (has the price of hops increased that much? I think not). This is understandable, they are a grocery store.

The selection of beer is decent, but you can find better in Bloomington. The price seems to a little bit more here too. They do have many organic beers, which is pretty cool, especially since many of the people who shop at this co-op try to eat only organic and natural products. They sell a small selection of 22oz and 750ml single bottles. You can buy a twelve pack of assorted microbrews put together by Bloomingfoods for about 20 bucks, but I don't really find it worth the money. All-in-all, this co-op is a fine place to grab a respectable six pack.

Bloomingfoods does have a nice selection of beer, including imports (some nice English, Scottish, and German) and craft (Brooklyn and 3 Floyds). There are larger selections in Bloomington, though, such as Big Red Liquors. The prices are comparable with others around town, too, although slightly more (for example, 3F were around .50 more per six pack than usual). The beer manager seemed to have a good knowledge of the beer, though. If you want to shop at a co-op, it's a good place to get some beer, too, but not the best in Btown all together.

I didn't have to struggle too much to enter this into the database, as all they sell is craft and relatively high-end imports.

There's tons of Indiana beers to choose from which is a plus depending on how you look at it. Also a good range of Anchor, SN, and a few others which I've since forgotten (3 days ago, hmm...)

Unfortunately as a grocer, this store is forbade by Indiana law to refrigerate their beer. This is too bad because the selection is much better than average on the hop-end of beers and not so great with ones that would be better unfrigerated (excepting Kwak and Tripel Karmeliet which were at really good prices).

A great local organically-focused grocer with a A selection of regional beers (and nothing BMC-ish!)
