Stopped in on a buying trip to Ohio when the place I wanted to hit up was closed and a local suggested here; I was pleasantly surprised. The selection was very adequate (although I couldnt find the number one thing I was looking for). The prices were very reasonable; even better than my go to store in MI. And the service was very friendly and informative (even helped me carry my very large purchase to my car and offered to acquire the beer I was looking for if I was in town for another day). I'll definitely stop here again and call ahead so I can get what I was looking for.

This is a good-sized store with some good selection set up in a shopping plaza, It's easy to get to off any major road and an easy drive from Toledo from the Anthony Wayne. I was surprised to find a large beer selection in a place that didn't look like much going in. There's lots of liquor and wine, beer mostly relegated to one large wall, some coolers, and some in the front. There's some more in a back room, too, though singles and the like are in the main section. There's lots of good craft along with plenty of crap; business is business. Service is good; most of the time, someone will approach a wandering customer, and they generally seem be pretty well-informed. All in all, this is definitely a good local option to find something to be happy with, and sometimes things that aren't found everywhere else.

Located just off the Anthony Wayne Trail, near Downtown Maumee, Ohio. Only a short drive from Fallen Timbers Mall, US-23, I-475 and State routes 24, 25, 64, 65.
Mainly a Liquor store, but Pauken's still offers a good Beer selection. Around 50 varieties available in singles and a decent mix of domestic, import and craft brews, most available cold. Very clean inside with outgoing staff, I shop here as often as possible. Often stopping in after dining next store at El Salto, Mexican restaurant. They will order special items for you, if possible. Good location, quick in-and-out and the beer and liquor combination works very well for me.

I stopped here March 2, 2005. The sign above the door reads Pauken Wine and Liquor. The store is located in the eastern half of the golden gate plaza, just north of downtown Maumee. Pauken's doesn't look like much from the outside, but a good beer store is located within. From the front door to the rear of the store, the east wall is all beer. In front the single bottles are located. This might be the best place to buy singles in the region. There is a large old open topped cooler, but most of the chilled selections are from the big brewers. The back room is where most of the craft brewed sixpacks sit. Service is polite, but don't expect too much beer expertise.
Pauken's selection is good, but some regionals you'd expect to see aren't here. The imports selection is pedestrian. If you're looking for belgians, try elsewhere. On the positive side, I almost always find a craft beer no other area store has yet. This time it was Wild Dog from Flying Dog.
