Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: Todd on 03-26-2005

Southern Pecan Nut Brown Ale is the first beer in the world, to our knowledge, made with whole roasted pecans. The pecans are used just like grain and provide a nutty characteristic and a delightful depth to the flavor profile. This beer is very lightly hopped to allow the malty, caramel, and nutty flavors shine through. The color is dark mahogany. Southern Pecan won a Bronze Medal in the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Specialty Beer category.

I really enjoyed this beer. It's light in body but the pecan and brown ale flavors are very pronounced. Excellent brew.

Nice red color. The pecan definitely comes through. Gets better as you drink it but it should be better.

What a disappointment. This is my first Lazy Magnolia beer. I’m hoping it gets better.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: A rusted cherry copper colored body holds a cream colored head. Little or no lacing, but it always depends on the glass.

Aroma: Roasted nuts, clean wood, malts, faint caramel sweetness.

Taste: Very malty sweet and nutty -- lots of caramel as well.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied.

Overall: Very drinkable, very nutty, sweet, but not too sweet. Really like this.

This is a beer great for people who love beer and even those who don't. Sweet but not syrupy and it's a surprisingly easy to drink beer. Perfect to have when firing up the grill in the summer.

A nice pecan nutty flavor in a milder brown ale. Well balanced and just a nice little beer.
