Lazy Magnolia Gulf Porter

Appearance: dark brown, medium head, and some lacing.

Smell: hops and cocoa.

Taste: rich cocoa malts, plentiful hops, and a subtle toffee.

Mouthfeel: liquidy but also slightly chewy.

Overall:
This is a nice brew. It is more complex than it initially appears. The bottle names a few other ingredients that I am not able to detect.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip.

A: Black. Pours about a 1 finger, foamy, brown-white head. Settles quickly leaving a shadow of a foam blanket. Light ring of foam remains around the rim. No real lacing to speak of.

S: Light charred coffee, salt water, oaky wood, and a slight bit of cocoa.

T: Roasted coffee. Woody but more earthy.

M: Hearty and full body, but comes across as a little diluted. Lightly bittersweet finish.

D: Sip and enjoy or go hard and fast.

Atmosphere is pretty good. Dark due, nice head, but little to no lacing. Nose is characteristic of the style roasted coffee malt, with some earthy and light chocolate tones. Flavor is of charred coffee with some distinct earthy characteristics. Rustic and musty. Overall, this is a good quaff.

S - chocolate, roasted malts,

T - bold chocolate up front finished with caramel malt. a little kick of hops and booze towards the end

Poured into a glass mug. Pours very dark brown (almost black) with a finger-length light tan head. The beer is opaque and the head recedes relatively quickly, leaving a thin film atop the beer. Lacing is left on the side of the glass during consumption. There are aromas of dark roasted barley malt, dark chocolate, and and some mild coffee. The flavors of this beer feature some nice roastiness from the dark roasted malt. There's some coffee and and dark chocolate in the flavor as well. There's some of that roastiness that lingers in the aftertaste. The body is light to medium with moderate carbonation. The beer goes down smoothly and the drinkability is high. This is an excellent beer.
