12 oz bottle pours a lightly hazed, dark gold color with a large cap of off-white head. Excellent retention and lacing, good looker!

Nose is tropical and citric hops, Im pretty sure there is some amarillo at work here...or maybe something else equally tropical. Smells good, malt is biscuity with a little zing from the rye.

Taste throws down some more bready flavors akin to a loaf of Jewish Rye. The hops still manage to be the main attraction with a piney-papaya flavor and plenty of bitterness. Alcohol is masked well and drinks pretty fast for a 9%'er. Lots of rye flavor on this one, some beers classified in the 'Rye Beer' style category dont even match this level of contribution from this Eastern European grass crop. Pretty tasty, I wouldnt have a problem buying another 4-pack of this.

A-Deep orange pour that settles to a paler yellow at the bottom. Bits floating around at the bottom. A huge orangish-white head that retains nicely as I drink. Foam coats entire glass as I drink.

S-Huge piney nose. Citrusy esters with a hoppy bite. Not too complex

T-Follows the nose mostly. Piney and citrusy fruits at the front precede a malty, sweet finish. Very nicely layered taste. The bitter fruits are complimented nicely by the caramel sweetness

MF-Crisp and lightly carbonated. Pretty typical of an imperial IPA.

O-I'm not a huge fan of the style, but this is an exceptional beer. It gets better and better with every sip. The warmth really exposes how nicely layered this beer is. It's 9% ABV, but I do not get any alcoholic taste at all. Very impressed.

A - Orange body, slight haze, white cap has good retention and nice lacing.

S/T - Juicy, citrus and pine hops up front, backed up by a strong caramel malt backbone. Rye spiciness comes through and builds in the finish. Hops are a little weak for a DIPA, and an unpleasant diacetyl/butter taste emerges as it warms.

M - Full body, medium carbonation. Stays smooth with a spicy and bitter finish.

O - Seems ok as an Imperial Rye IPA. Butter taste was a little off-putting and hops could have been stronger to balance out the sweetness.

Pours rusty orange with a small off-white head. Low retention, but good heavy lacing down the glass.

Smells of caramel malts, pine and earthy hops.

Similar flavors. A little citrus punch up front recedes into malty caramel sweetness. An earthy bitterness takes hold near the end to balance the malt a bit.

Mouthfeel is medium plus. Good carbonation level for the style and profile.

Generally prefer more pronounced citrus and pine in IPA's, but this was a solid effort.

Served chilled into a fluted tulip.

Pours a nice copper color with an inch to two inches of light white head, even with a gentle pour. Head very slowly recedes and leaves a thick surface layer with heavy lacing.

Aromas of pine resin, citrus and as it warmed I caught a hint of guava.

Flavors of pine and bitter citrus peel and a slighlt mineral background.

Medium to heavy mouthfeel with a medium body and and moderate carbonation with a lingering aftertaste.

I really liked this beer. I normally prefer a more citrusy IPA, but this was delicious. Strong, but well balanced flavors.

Bought a 4 pack at Round Rock Specs.

This one poured a cloudy dark golden orange with a thin white head that left a ton of lacing in my 512 IPA glass...very impressive.

A good combo of piney hops and slight tangerine mixed with carmel malt...maybe some spice from the rye too. Really fresh.

Good bitter hop punch on first sip that turns into a sweet malt. The rye is there, just not as pronounced as it is in Hop Rod Rye. Medium carbonation and a smooth finish. Hides the booze well.

I really like this one. Very nice surprise from Lazy Magnolia. This is a pretty flavorful DIPA with a good combo of hops and malt. I'll certainly get it again.
