Pours a nice, hazy, strong yellow with a near creamy white head. Really good retention, smooth, even dissipation with decent but scattered lace.
Smell is the usual suspects: banana, clove, malt, yeast, slight hops. Really good balance.
Taste is surprisingly tart, and much welcomed. Malt, yeast, banana, clove, a hint of citrus, too. Balance is quite good.
Medium + body, tart especially up front, dry from the middle on. Warming was a nice, unexpected, surprise. This is more of what I expect from a Saison. Tight, light, effervescence on the tip of the tongue.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of fruits, some spices. Taste is spices up front, malts, fruits, citrus, very easy drinking, especially at this abv. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Pours a fairly translucent golden color, with a stark white head. No lace, very bubbly.

Aroma is rustic and earthy, with a musky yeast note and light fruitiness.

Taste echo's the rustic nature, with some grassy and herbal hops, grape skins, yeast, bread crusts and a light fruity note.

Body is light, crisp, effervescent, dry and clean.

Its a good Saison. Not as rustic as I prefer, but not as fruity as some poorer examples tend to be. Hope they bottle it for summer.

Lazy Magnolia Lazy Saison has a medium, white head, a clear, bubbly, burnished gold appearance, and a thin lace curtain left behind. The aroma is of bready grain and herbs. Taste is of those things, with some yeast and mild hop bitterness riding along. There is also some cream of wheat in there. Mouthfeel is medium and somewhat slick, and Lazy Magnolia Lazy Saison finishes dry, easy drinking, and only the slightest bit alcohilic.

This is a better beer than many of the other reviewers would have you believe.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a golden color and a clear texture. There was a half inch of foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Pretty good lacing.

S: A somewhat muted aroma of light fruit, malt, and barnyard funk.

T: Tasted of fruit (a little lemon), malt, and the aforementioned funk. The major problem with the flavor is that it's fairly bland and watered down. Definitely not aggressive enough.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Not a great example of a saison. Lots of other American breweries do a better version of the style.

So many of the American produced saisons seem to so clearly miss the mark that I am gun-shy in trying new ones and, frankly, have negative expectations walking into things. This is actually pretty decent. There is that faint hint of soap that really drives me out of my mind. But what dominates is a pretty nice smoothly sweet character in a very Belgian style. This is extremely easy to drink. One of the few "American-style saisons" I have had that I was perfectly fine with. Suggested.

On tap at the Bulldog, Jackson, MS

A: A hazy golden with a fluffy white one finger head that dissipated pretty quickly. Not much lacing.

S: Floral, fruity. Picking up lemons, bananas, oranges and a tad of hops.

T: Sweet and sensual. The citrus aspect is very nice, featuring lemons and banana bread. A great malt/hop combo; very balanced. Earthy but not funky. Very sessionable.

M: Light to medium with medium carbonation.

O: I was very impressed with this gulf coast saison. Very smooth and light. Not as dry as other saisons and lacking in pepper aspects. But overall, a very balanced style that should please everyone. Drinks like a tripel without the Belgian yeast. Recommended.

$ 2.79/12 oz bottle at vintage Estates, Boardman, OH
Bottled 1/31/14 at 40 degrees into snifter
Aroma of coriander
Head average (3 cm), white, frothy, slowly diminishing to 2 mm ring and partial layer
Lacing OK – some small islands and partial rings of small bubbles
Body light yellow, cloudy
Flavor begins with spiciness and some sweetness, quickly fades to just sweetness; no hops, no malt, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate light to medium, oily, soft carbonation

Meh. A very unremarkable saison.
