A rustic Mississippi Ale inspired by the Delta Blues. A sinister brew with a seductive balance of sweetness, resinous pine, and citrus aromas. Find yourself at the "crossroads" of alluring malt character and deviant hop backbone while celebrating the blues legends.

A: Poured into a Piraat tulip. Body is coppery with no head. No lace.

S: Some pine over caramel malt and toffee-like sweetness.

T: Sweet up front - molasses, cane sugar - then a bit of a piney/citrusy hop bite on the finish, though with sweetness still prevailing. ABV noted as a drying finish and as heat in the belly.

M: Flat and syrupy; medium in heft.

O: OK, not great.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass. Bottled September 13th 2014.

Deep orange to lemon bodied yellow. Kind of looks like a classic American barleywine, but only manages a half finger of faint tan head, before quickly dissolving into a bubbled collar. Slightly slick and oily top, but with a very nice contrast of orange, yellow, and even red color.

Interesting nose. Hints of honey and floral sweetness on the front, with a fairly candy like aroma. Not particularly fruity smelling, but a nice aroma. It really does remind me more of a braggot actually.

Oh boy this is a doozy. The mouthfeel on this has really gone south. Watery and with a bizarre mineral tinge to it, for a high gravity beer this has really light and wet character. Interesting flavors though, large honey cookie and biscuit sweetness. Flavors of waffery cookie and a bit of vanilla to match. Real unique flavor. Big biscuit like cookie finish as well, with hints of treacle and thin pancake syrup. Chalky aftertaste quite a bit too though.

Pine and citrus? Where? Has a real unique character unlike any other high gravity beer, but a classic example of how a bad mouthfeel can just ruin the party.

Loved the way this one smelled. The taste is toffee, toasted malt, caramel, with light pine and citrus hops. If anything, I think this could use a bit more hops to balance it out. This is an easy drinking sipper that I may get again, but would not rush out for.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Thank you shan8454 for this one in trade.

Appearance: Darker amber color with an off white thin head. Mild lacing on the glass.

Smell: Malts, Hops and fruity notes.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of malts with some mild bitter hops and some sweetness, mild alcohol.

Overall: Decent brew, I rather like this one. Too bad it is a limited brew and I don't live in the south, I would have this one again.

12 oz bottle served in a snifter just days after the BB date.

Pours alovely orange-amber color, with excellent clarity but a feeble head that manages to leave a bit of spotty lacing and hang around a long time. .

Higher ABV is fairly well hidden; a paricularly good thing given that the aroma and flavor are both mild. A good bit of hops in the nose with a solid sweet malt base. Still, both the aroma and the taste lean towards sweet. Fruity alcohol esters and light hops get revealed in the finish.

Pours a copper/orange with 1 finger of beige head. Nice lacing & above average head retention

S: Pears, breadyness & honey malt, faint Brandy notes

T: Dryness, pears, faint leafy & woody hops, plus breadyness. Intense dryness, breadyness & faint pear as this warms, slight boozeyness as well. Finishes dry, malty, with a little booze warmth & toffee

MF: Medium bodied, slight carbonation

Drinks okay, but not one I would buy again

Poured into chilled glass, one- finger head vanished quickly with slight lacing. Dark amber in color. I am an IPA guy and abundant hop taste was lacking. Medium feel in mouth, and alcohol was well-hidden. Was looking for something different. Will finish 4-pack and move on...

Poured from a 12oz bottle into an IPA glass.

L- Golden, really a beautiful color, nice white inch plus head that takes it's time fading. Leaves a flat cap of bubbles over the whole beer. Pretty much perfect.

S- Pleasant, fruity...makes me think of pears and bubblegum. Maybe honey or maple...something really sweet like that....almost tropical.

T- A little pine cone and citrus...very mellow (the bottle is dated 8/12/14...just noticed that)...might be the reason for the muted flavors...very soft. Don't really get any alcohol at all...and I was expecting a lil bit at least.

F- Medium at best...maybe a little less than that....not really flat just not really carbonated.

O- Nothing special here...don't really need to do this again. Too many fantastic beers out there to waste my time on this...

Lazy Magnolia Me & The Dev-Ale has a fairly thin, off-white head, a clear, sparkling, copper appearance, some ascending bubbles, and minimal lacing. The aroma is of citrus and pine, and the flavor is mostly of those things, with some breadiness and just a touch of alcohol, way in the back. The mouthfeel is mostly thin and a bit slick, and Lazy Magnolia Me & The Dev-Ale finishes mostly dry, easy drinking, and even refreshing. Overall, this is very good, but unusual.
