Christian Moerlein Doppelbock is brewed in accordance with Germany's Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516. What makes Doppelbock most enjoyable is its rich, full body, which is superbly balanced for smoothness. It will be appreciated for its robust malt and carmel characteristics. Enjoy its smooth, velvety taste and you will agree that it is Quite Simply a Better Doppelbock.

A tad bit on the sour end for me upon initial sip but the lingering flavor of malts are delightful.

Nice reddish brown color with a small
tan head. The head fades away very quickly...zero lacing on the glass.

Sweet, but not too sweet... flavor is dark fruits and dark bread.

Lively mouth feel with just the right amount of carbonation.

I feel like I could drink several of these in a row. I really like it.

I got this off the single shelf at Meijer. It poured a clear amber with thin white head that is not leaving any lace. The scent had sweet Belgian hints. The taste was sweet white wine leaning that finish slightly dry. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's an ok beer....im not a huge dipped guy.

I had this on draught at Morlein's Tap House in Cincinnati. 16 oz pour in a pint glass. It pours a dark brown, nearly mahogany when held to the light, and a finger of foamy, khaki-colored head and lacing. Not much fruit on the nose; mostly dark bread. The taste is subtle but pleasing: sweet malt, dark bread, caramel, raisin, and fig. The favors aren't bold but they work nicely. It has a fairly creamy mouth feel with moderate carbonation. At 6.5% ABV, it went down easily. Overall, I enjoyed it. It's not at the level of Celebrator and other style leaders but it's great for pub drinking and paired well with various appetizers.

A: The beer is clear and very dark amber in color (brown when viewed from afar) and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short beige head that died down rather quickly, leaving a narrow collar around the edge of the glass and some lacing on the surface.
S: Light aromas of brown bread are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of brown bread with hints of toffee and raisins plus some bits of malty sweetness.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer doesn't seem to be as malty and full in body compared to most of the other beers that I've had in this style, so in this aspect it is rather drinkable for a dopplebock.
