A cool winter afternoon calls for a dark lager. Barbarossa, you get the call. On to the beer:

The beer is amber colored with orange and autumn red hues visible in the spectrum. Carbonation bubbles of small and large rise from bottom to top while a somewhat creamy head rests. The beer has a caramel-like sweetness in the aroma, also a phenolic note which doesn't belong, and brown sugar crusted raisins.

I still get a phenolic note in the taste as well, which spoils what could be a good dunkel lager. The toasted malt, raisin, and toffee notes want to pop out, but are brushed to the side. It's light bodied, somewhat watery, but it is easy going down.

Remove the phenolic accent and this could be a dunkel worth talking about.
