12 oz. bottle poured into a nonic - can't vouch on how fresh this is since there's no freshness date in view. Review taken from notes.

Appearance: The body of the beer is actually fairly dark for an IPA - a pleasant, deep copper with some hints of fiery orange, fairly hazy but no sediment in suspension. An aggressive pour yielded a 1.5 finger head of ivory white foam which slowly faded to a cap of wisps and left behind spotty lacing.

Smell: Bold, but balanced. There are the obligatory notes of citrus, particularly grapefruit and just a little bit of lemon; but there are also some notable floral/herbal scents in there accented by some pine resin, all backed by just a pinch of either pale or caramel malt, providing a slightly sugary scent to the beer.

Taste: A fairly rich beer. Citric hops dominate with flavors of orange rind and grapefruit, underscored by a backbone of floral and herbal spiciness on the middle of the palate, which carries into some pine resin notes in the finish. There's a small but substantial backbone of malt flavors, sweet and sugary, to provide some balance for the beer. Nice balance between very American and European hop characteristics. A good thirst quencher, and a balanced IPA that still knows how to kick it.

Mouthfeel: Medium body overall, not too highly carbonated. Lingering flavors from the hops create a slightly drying finish leaving me thirsty for another sip. Alcohol is well-hidden, even though the ABV is a little low for this style in this brew.

Overall: Pretty good IPA, a little bit of a surprise from Moerlein, who generally specializes in Euro-style beers. Good balance and drinkability, but nothing to get crazy excited over. This isn't a super-assertive IPA - in fact, I would venture to say it's either a very mild IPA or a slightly souped-up APA. If you want to support your locals and want a good beer with some character, check this out. Sessionable but not fantastic.

Pours a light copper with a short head. In the smell is fruit and bread--it smells pretty nice but not much like an IPA. The taste is general bitterness. There's some fruit and bread in there as well, but not much of the hop flavors that I enjoy, and everything, other than the bitterness, is pretty mild. The mouthfeel is thin, but the beer is crisp and easily drinkable, making it a good session choice. Overall, this isn't very good, especially for an IPA. It just isn't very flavorful.

The appearance was to be expected. A light amber with a frothy and foamy top. Nothing exciting to the presentation. Certainly average for an IPA. No appeal to the looks.

It started out with a charismatic aroma blend of a plasticy grainy malt. lazily hopped and lethargic greeny smell.

The taste was nickle and orange combined. The hoppyness of it was diminished by a flat aftertaste of back-of-your-mouth unexactness. it had neither a strong sharpness or a pingy clarity that I expect with an IPA. It was a let down but not so bad that I will never drink one again. The plasicness of the taste was not as appealing as it sounds. Honestly one of the most well rounded IPA I have had taste wise but that is not the reason you drink an IPA. It just was not interesting enough to be a repeat drinker.

It has a sense of lacking of excitement but came around with a clean dry mouth and crisp feel.

Overall it was too modest. It is something that I will have in a couple of years maybe to remind me why other IPAs (Hopnotch, Great Lakes, Flying dog, DFH, and Sierra Nevada included) are more my taste. What was nice about it was that it seemed easy to drink and relaxing.

Pours a slightly hazy copper with a frothy cream head that lingers.

Citrus, pine, resin, and fresh cut grass ride a bed of slightly sweet, bready malt. The balance is fairly resiny. Herbal notes surface as it warms.

Bready, lightly toasted, slightly sweet caramel malt forms the backbone, with a fairly resiny, decidedly bitter finish rounding things out. Underlying flavors of muted citrus, grapefruit and tangerine, add intrigue.

Body is moderate, with moderate carbonation and a harsh, astringent hop finish. There's a touch of alcohol warmth.

Way too resiny and bitter for my liking. Malt was a touch sweet. The citrus character was pleasant.

12 oz bottle from 12-pack sampler case purchased in Ohio. Served in a Sam Adams glass.

A: Orange-amber in color with a large, frothy off-white head. Superior lacing and retention.

S: Sweet with citrus and floral notes, and a bready malt base.

T: More fruity and appealing than the aroma. Mildly bitter hop finish.

M: Excellent medium body and medium+ carbonation. Near creamy smooth..

O: A mild IPA. More like a pale ale in terms of hops load and bitterness, and perhaps a bit light even then, but tasty and highly drinkable.

I picked this up from the Kroger brewmaster's choice sampler while on vacation at Marblehead OH. No date on the bottle or label, and coming from a grocery I'm not sure of the age. Bottle into a pint glass.

A: Light amber in color with a nice frothy off white 2 finger head. Lacing started within minutes. Really nice lacing with concentric circle down the glass.

S: Sweet with a hint of cirtus and floral. Really nice balanced smell.

T: Sweet, Bitter, Sweet! Nice, I get a nice citrus sweet followed immediately with a nice bitter hop and finishes with a mild sweet malt.

M: Good medium body with enough carbonation. Enjoyable.

O: Very nice IPA! Not overbearing in the hop department, but does offer a good hop flavor. Light enough, but could be a bit filling.
