The beer pours a dark ruby red color with a thick and creamy offwhite head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a dry, yet malty scent that boasts of pale, crystal, and roasted malts. The taste is good also. It has a nice malty flavor that boasts of pale, crystal, and roasted malts. It has an elevated abv. which adds some warmth to the finish. It is dry with some raisin flavor. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium/full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a good Scottish ale. It has good flavor, but nothing exceptional.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. There was a half-inch head that settled quickly with little to no lacing. Dark brown with deep ruby red coloring.
Smells of malt and slight burnt caramel.
First sip kind of fell flat but I believe that was because it was a little too cold. Very slight carbonation. Each sip thereafter the taste picked up and became better and better as the beer warmed. The taste of sweet molasses comes through the warmer it gets. Leaves slight malty aftertaste. Good mouthfeel.
I could drink one of these every day. Very nice.

22 oz bottle. Pours brown with a smallish off-white head that quickly goes to a thin collar that leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is chocolate and caramel malts, sweet molasses, nuts, leather and some smoky peat.
The flavor is lots of sweet sugary molasses with chocolate nutty maltiness. It has a smoky bitter finish with some alcohol. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation but still fairly creamy.
Overall, a nice beer. I like the way the sweetness plays with the smokiness. It's still a bit too sweet for my taste.
