I used to work here for a while and although the management may have their idiosyncrasies, the beer selection cannot be denied. While it isn't the largest or most impressive selection in the state they have all the stuff that matters. Prices are always decent and the sales are hard to beat (8.99 for session 12 packs recently and at one point Avery sixers were 5.99) Bomber selection is good enough and I always make a point to stop in on my way past just to look around and see what's in, you never know what is inside the doors!

Colorado, by law, has only single liquor stores i.e. no chain stores.
Don't expect a Total Wine type of place like in CA, AZ etc. (there is a Total Beverage in Westminster, though)

There are only 2 to 3 places where you should go in Boulder County to buy craft beer....Superior is one of them. Most of the time, they have more craft beers on sale than the other large liquor store in Boulder. Cody is their main beer buyer and he
definitely knows his stuff (especially for being relatively young).
I see him at all the craft beer fests in Boulder so he is on top of
the latest.
Contrary to one of the other reviews, Superior is definitely worth
going out of your way for (sorry to the grammar police). There
are "8 feet" of just non-Colorado craft beers stacked 7 feet high.
Singles of probably 100's of beers are available including many
very small barrel-aged batch types ($8-15/ 12 oz. bottle).

If you're looking for almost any Colorado beer or almost any CA
beer, there is a good chance they have it.

Why would anyone come here for craft brew? They had about 8' dedicated to beer ins whole warehouse. Done stone, some port, some sum Adams, but overall a poor selection. I drive 30 minutes to get here on my visit. Complete waste of time.

They had an impressive selection of wines and liquids, and of mass brews. Very clean, well lit with ample parking. Easy highway access. Well dressed staff. Good signage - I coils tell almost immediately that there was no beer at this place. No food, so far as I could tell.

Superior Liquor lives up to its name, even if its named after its location rather than how it compares to the competition. I was in the area for a graduation this weekend, so I obviously had to stock up on Colorado beers. Lots of the stuff is distributed to California, but I was able to find some cool stuff from Ska, Left Hand, Twisted Pine, Wynkoop, Ft. Collins, Dry Dock, and others. I can't imagine there were many Colorado breweries unrepresented here. I was even able to find some Hoppin' Frog stuff, which we don't get out here. They must have on the order of 30 refrigerator doors. 4 or 5 doors of bombers and singles, a few doors of Macro, and a bunch of doors of sixers and twelvers. Reasonable mixed sixers are there for the making. When we went to pay, the system crashed, but the staff was extremely entertaining and fixed the problem quickly. I know that, if that happened in LA, everyone would have freaked at having to wait a few minutes...it was refreshing to see the great attitudes, both on the part of customers and that of the staff. When I visit my family next time, I will most certainly be coming back.

Superior Liquor is simple one of the best liquor stores around. Their staff are always really nice, helpful and very knowledgeable. My mother goes in there looking for a specific wine but doesn't really know what she wants and the staff helped her find what is now her favorite wine. Their beer section is endless fridges of domestic and export of all shapes and sizes. If you want to mix and match a six pack of different microbrews , the price is very reasonable. All of their prices are fairly reasonable. They carry the standard kegs as well as the better Colorado brews (Avery, New Belgium) in the 1/8 and 1/4 barrel sizes. All in all, it's one of my favorite places to visit on the weekend.

Visiting from California and wanted to bring home some of Colorado's finest.

Selection - evidenced by the fact I got a Brabant from Avery at this place. The brewery didn't even have this. I got 120 minute dogfish here too. And they had some of the best San Diego brews including Pizza Port Hop 15, Old Viscosity, Green Flash, Lost Abbey, Stone (of course). Very impressed.

This place is enormous, was clean and well lit.

Price was on par with expectations, so I say reasonable, but I am not from Colorado.

If I could die and be reincarnated as a liquor store cashier, I would work here.

Superior has a great location right off the highway. They have 3-4 doors full of bombers (22oz) and singles and probably one of the bigger selections of Colorado micro brews I've seen in the state.

Superior seems to have a beer that may go out of season or be limited for a little longer than most other places around. They are one of the last places I recall seeing Leifmans after it went off the market. Decent selection of Belgians, nothing overly impressive, and a few micros mixed in here and there. With a little bit of nurturing, they could build up an impressive 22oz selection.

The Colorado selection is huge, one of the only places I've seen carry all of the Ft. Collins brews, however the rest of the micros are lacking, they have the big ones like dogfish and stone, however are slightly more pricy then elsewhere in Boulder/Denver.

It could just be my own experience but the staff never seems to be around when you need to ask a question, you usually have to search a person out and most of the time they don't have any knowledge about the beer. I don't necessarily mind seeking someone out to talk to, I understand these are all small businesses and they have limited staff, but I do find it upsetting that if I do manage to find someone, they don't have knowledge on the beers at hand, and cannot find anyone else who does either.

Overall it's a decent place, it's not somewhere I would go out of my way to go to, considering the selection available in Boulder, however it is a great place to check for those limited edition items you may be looking for.

This is a nice liquor store that has a lot of the stuff you might only find in Boulder such as upslope brewing without being as far of a drive up US 36. Prices are pretty good, i once got a bottle of BA Ruffian for $20 which is $5 cheaper than every other store in the front range. The single selection is decent and the prices are pretty standard compared to most of the other stores in town. This is the first place I ever saw Oskar Blues Gordon back when it was hand-labeled, good stuff. If you are on 36 this place is worth checking out.

Superior was one of my favorite places to visit when I lived in Boulder. Just a five minute drive and a great store. It is a big place with a good selection of wine and liquor.

A whole side of the store if filled with beer coolers. A great selection from the worst macros to some ultra premium brews. They cover Colorado and other regional states well.

They have some great deals as well. For example I found 750's of Dogfish head for only $10 and bottles of Malheur 12 for only $3. They have a mix a six pack deal for $9.99. It used to be $8.99, but is still a good deal considering what you can get.

Finally, they put %15 off coupons on King Soopers receipts.

Quite a few micros are available. Samples from all of the Colorado breweries can be had here. The selection of imports is the only weak point. Prices are reasonable, and there's always something good on sale.

If you're in the mood for wine, the selection is quite good. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a points club for frequent visitors. One of the features of the club, is that you can choose to have your points donated to whatever charity the store is sponsoring at the time. They match your donation point for point.

This store is definitely a winner in my book.
