Really grassy and spicy scent with delicious fresh Austrian hops taste and a very crisp finish. Great for its price point.

This beer is excellent, I mean its a proper stinky beer. A classic green bottle European beer. IYKYK!

I've been drinking this all week and am on the last bottle right now. I opened these thinking it was an American beer, since it says Berkeley California on the front of the bottle, but immediately you can smell the strong German hops. I was ready to come say how authentic this beer is then I read it really is from Austria. No surprise at all. This beer is the quintessential German/European style beer at top game. None of those American hops you get in our IPAs. Its smooth and crisp and it is a bit sweet. Its an excellent clean classic beer that I would have any day of the week

Serving: 12 oz can (“BB : 94/12/24”) poured into a 14 oz Rastal Teku glass.

Appearance: Clear, pale, golden yellow with a frothy head of white foam and sticky lace.

Smell: Grassy, spicy hop aroma, subtle lemon rind, and pleasant fresh bread malt notes.

Taste: Clean and refreshing with crackers and white bread malt backbone accented by spicy, herbal hops, balancing bitterness, and dry finish.

Mouthfeel: Light body with brisk carbonation.

Overall: Solid and drinkable European Pilsner from the Bay Area.

Pours a pale golden with skunky notes on the nose, having come out of a green bottle. That carries through to the flavor. This was a fine beer to wait out the rain, but it's not something that I would order again.

This one pours a clear straw yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells grassy and spicy, with a golden bready malt aroma.

This is really nice slightly more hop forward German pilsner. It’s got a nice refreshing spicy and herbal hop character, firm but clean, with a nice bready and toasty malt backbone.

This is very light bodied, clean, and super drinkable.

This one has always been on my list, and I’m happy to have finally tried it.

Tap pour at the Palo Alto Hilton Garden Inn. Served chilled in a pint glass.
Clear, straw to pale gold colored body. White head which leaves behind a film lacing.
Aroma of toasted malts and floral/spicy hops.
Taste follows the nose with toasted malts and floral/fruity hops. Has a spice note but no real bitterness. Sweet malts and the spice note in the aftertaste.
Medium mouth feel. Clean and crisp finish. Good carbonation.
Solid and tasty pilsner.

On tap at the posh Water Grill right before the Padres’ game. It’s there if you need it.

Best before December 15, 2023 - enjoyed on August 27, 2023 - poured from a 12oz can into my Radeberger pokal.

Brilliantly clear Aureolin body supports two fingers of ivory crepe. Sticky, varied lacing; very good retention.

Biscuity, bready, faintly dough-y aromatics - malt forward with just a hint of wild grass.

Slightly metallic and sharp on the palate - relatively mild bitterness with a very delicate vegetal/grassy hop flavor. Distinctive lager yeast notes linger in the long dry finish. Some savory/umami elements (not as unpleasant as sulfur not as pleasant as sencha) persist. Malt emerges a bit as the beer warms (crackers and cookie dough), but never lives up to the promise of the nose.

Light, medium-full carbonation, not quite crisp, fairly refreshing.

Somewhat forgettable take on the style - rides the line between restraint and weakness. Back to Bitburger for me....

I have a really hard time rating pilsners. It's more about "not being bad" than it is "being good". This one is good. Good carbonation which is important for a beer like this. It's crisp, and that regular bready pilsner taste. It is slightly bitter in the end. I would buy this again.
