Bottle poured in to tulip.

A - Poured a murky dark copper/brown colour with only the slightest amount of light passing through and a thin layer of cream coloured head.

S -A big charred oak aroma is noticeable immediately. Some caramel, toffee, raisin and coconut notes come through as well.

T - A big charred oak presence is noticeable immediately that becomes more and more astringent as the beer warms. Some caramel, toffee and raisin notes from the base beer come through as well. The faintest hint of coconut is noticeable in the background along with a fairly substantial alcohol presence. The charred oak flavour is massive and the base beer doesn't seem to have held up well to the barrel aging.

M - Medium to full body. Light carbonation.

O - I was really looking forward to this beer and it fell way short of my expectations. Fairly messy and disjointed overall. Hopefully we see this one again with some improvements in 2014.
