Notes/Commercial Description:
This one of a kind beer is brewed as a pilsner style beer which is then combined with natural apple juice and essence. The result is a refreshingly smooth beer with a crisp, clean finish, which is perfect for complimenting or cooking with poultry, pork and seafood.

Nickel Brook Green Apple Pilsner is a wonderful alternative for those looking for something new!

473 ml can from LCBO poured into a pint glass on a cold October day.

Appearance - A clear golden yellow spills into the pint glass. Nice 2 finger white head with almost ten minutes retention time. Some bubbles are clearly visible in the beer and there's a nice thick white cap sitting on top. Nice lacing is left as well.

Smell - Apple cider, rhubarb, some other sour notes as a melding of green apple and rhubarb. Almost detecting a hint of strawberry / rhubarb pie as well.

Taste- Sweet at first, but then the sour green apple kicks in, replacing the sweet. Definitely tastes like a cross between cider and beer. Sip of almost all head is very sweet. Also picking up bready malts, rhubarb and apple as in the aroma. Second sip yields almost a pastry baking around these flavors of apple and rhubarb. Upon further reflection though the sweetness keep shining through and there's not quite enough beer here to meet the demand.

Mouthfeel - Slightly dry finish that is not unpleasant with medium / high carbonation. Slightly watery and a bit too fizzy for my tastes after the first few sips.

Overall - Pleasantly surprised with this beer enjoyed it quite a bit, but a bit too much of the apple juices and non-beer components within this beverage itself especially once the first few sips have been had.

Overall it was a good attempt but I split a can with 3 people and nobody finished their sample. The flavour is very artificial and overpowering. Tasted more like apple skins than anything. Would not go well with any type of food either. Their ipa is ok but the organic didn't win me over enough to keep trying their brews

Serving Type - 473ml can poured into a pilsner glass

Appearance - Pours a crystal clear golden colour, with a bright white fluffy head which shows no sign of dissipating. A great deal of carbonation is visible.

Smell - An incredibly powerful green apple smell as soon as the can is opened. By the time the beer was poured all I can really smell is green apple. Like it's ridiculous - it smells like it could be green apple soda. That said - over the top isn't a bad thing in a beer like this as its sort of a novelty to begin with.

Taste - Lot's of apple ans artificial sugar flavour going on here. The apple flavour is pleasant enough, the sugar not so much. It's so over powering that i'm struggling to remind myself that this is in fact beer that I'm drinking. Not sure what I was expecting from the nose, but the sugar here sort of kills it.

Mouthfeel - Extremely light body, high carbonation and a sort of water-y, but refreshing finish.

Overall - 3/5

A - clear golden, plenty of bubbles, short head quickly disappeared
S - over the top apple and sugar aroma is dominate this to the point of being nearly impossible to smell any beer qualities, it is a decent aroma but not really a beer aroma
T - same as the nose, its more like an apple soda than a beer, not bad tasting not really beer tasting
M - light and well carbonated, but then its just a sugar bomb
O - a classic example of going too far with a feature ingredient

Appearance: It has a nice pale yellow color to it. It has a nice white head that dies down quite fast and leaves next to no lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of green apples and jolly ranchers. Not much else.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a green apple flavor, mild sourness and some bready malts.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a light overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with somewhat bland flavors and aromas.

Thanks for sharing today Jay, this was a good one to start out with. Into a tulip glass it poured a pale anemic gold. High clarity, no carb or lacing visible.

Smells and tastes like a green jolly rancher. Bravo. Might as well just call this crap 4 loko and call it a day. Vague pale malt aftertaste. Bland and lifeless, dull and artificially flavored green apple soda. It has soda-like carbonation and a dry finish, thankfully not too cloyingly sweet, but the sugar is definitely in there.

Pass on the neon green can if you see it, this is purely alcopop in a can. The can actually suggests pouring over ice cream, blech.

Can into pint. Expiry NOV2612

A- Slightly hazy straw yellow pour with a short lived finger width white head. Lacing is minimal.

S- Strange, it smells like a green apple Jolly Rancher. slight floral hops. Slightly sweet from the malts.

T- Green apple jolly rancher, that slowly transitions to a bright floral Pilsener taste. Floral hops with a sweet malty backing.

M- Light bodied, lively carbonation slightly syrupy finish.

O- The apple is a good touch, it smells and tastes refreshing but the finish makes it taste and feel more like a artificial syrup than anything else. I'd be interested to see what "Naturally Flavored" is/means.
