16oz glass at Beer Revolution YEGDT, and 5.0% ABV according to them.

This beer appears a glassy medium tarnished golden amber hue, with one finger of weakly puffy, and mostly just tightly bubbly dirty white head, which leaves some random coral reef lace around the glass as it lazily and evenly subsides.

It smells of orange, grapefruit, and lime citrus pith, grainy, gritty pale malt, a hint of dry caramel, a flinty stoniness, and further soft weedy, floral hops. The taste is more somewhat clammy and muddled, yet still zesty grocery store citrus rind, crackery pale malt, a restrained caramel/toffee sweetness, a hint of lemon floor polish, and meek earthy hops.

The bubbles are nice and loose and playful, the body medium-light in weight, and smooth enough, the fragrant hops not really into messing about here. It finishes off-dry, just, as the malt peters out fully, and the fruitiness of the hops steps in to pick up the slack.

A decently hoppy APA, though at the apparent expense of any prominent malt backbone, unfortunately. Very evocative of the assumed titular neighbour's better bitter (hah!) wares, and worthy of a few rounds, at least, just not at these dear, er, 'import' prices. Nor if I have to watch the fat guy at the end of the bar rant about being accused of swiping someone's phone, by threatening, and then duly carrying through on removing his skivvies. That's a new one at this joint, fo sho!

Bottle at Stouts. ecent Orange flavour, an understated but decent drinking IBu bitterness. Orange hop aroma. Smooth drinking (although a little watery as I find in many of this brewery offerings).Hits the style, worth a try though not the best pale I have had grows on me.

Enjoyable, very crisp with light hops. I would buy again.

Purchased as a single at the LCBO. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a hard head

S- TONS of hops. Nice little IPA bitterness to it

T- See above plus this is a wonderful APA. Alcohol is low for the amount of hops present. Very nice rendition.

M- A bit too dry but that is the excessive dry hop technique

O- Excellent beer. Wish we can have discounted brand APA's at the beer store! This one is wonderful

Food Pairing

This wonderful APA goes well with... Sushi.... as usual sushi and a hard APA goes well together

Enjoy

A- This one pours with a super nice off white head that is about two fingers thick and slowly settles into a thick dense film over the beer. The color of the ale is coppery gold haze and the carbonation appears to be mellow. Lacing is very nice too with lots of foamy bubbles stick to the side of the glass.

S- Nice robust hop presence is duly noted, with floral and fruity tones of strawberry-rhubarb upfront as well. There is a balancing malt sweetness that hits the nostrils and I think it really blends well together. Yeasty bread notes are also present and of course the finish is hoppy....fresh and hoppy!

T- The flavors are well rounded and balance well between sweet malts and floral leafy bitterness. There is a piney/citrus flavor and the sweetness found is somewhat like marmalade....with plenty of various rinds. The finish is fresh....grassy...Earthy, bitter, and it really helps cleanse the palate for the next taste.

M/O- Nice tight carbonation really exemplifies the full flavors found in this one. Balancing floral and citrus keep the alcohol in check and provide a solid medium bodied, yet refreshing Ale that is hard to believe doesn't come from the West Coast! Nicely done!

Bottle: Poured clear amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention. Aroma consists of light bitter and citrus hops with light dry caramel malt presence. Taste is mostly dominated by light dry and citrus hops notes with light dry caramel malt. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad overall but lacking a bit of a hops punch.

Bottle to Founders tulip glass.

A - Poured a slightly cloudy medium yellow with a big bright yellow glow around the edges. Half a finger of white head formed with good retention.

S - Big grapefruit aroma up front that accompanies a fairly big bitterness. Some pine aromas and a touch of sweetness from the malts comes through as well. Very fresh nose.

T - A good bitterness up front that is full of fresh grapefruit and pine flavours. A decent caramel sweetness from the malt bill is in a perfect proportion. A very nice APA.

M - Fairly high carbonation; too much for my liking. Light to medium body overall.

O - Another welcome addition to the Ontario beer scene. Would definitely buy this one again. Well done!

On Tap at the Arrow and the Loon Ottawa for 7.75$

Appearance - Hazy amber/copper colour with a large size frothy and fizzy white coloured head. It's hard to make out the amount of carbonation showing and there is some good lacing. The head lasted for around 5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Malts, caramel, hops, grapefruit, pineapple, apricots

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts and caramel mixed with a good dose of hops. There is also some nice tropical fruits going on.. pineapple, guava and something along the lines of strawberry..? As well as grapefruits and some pine. It ends with a sweet and fruity yet hoppy aftertaste.

Overall - I liked this one more than their IPA.. it reminded me a bit of great lakes crazy canuck but with more tropical fruitiness. The strawberry/guava flavour did start to wear on me towards the end of the glass, but still a great beer that I would buy again.

On cask at C'est What, into a pint glass.

Clear golden orange body, with a finger of white head. Good retention but no lace to mention. Nose is predominantly orange and tangerine-y hops, with some sweet biscuity malt character. Taste provides alot more juicy hop character, generally some citrus-y flavours. Moderate bitter finish, light body with really nice, soft cask carbonation. An easy drinker, and a solid cask offering. Nickel Brook appears to really be putting their shit together.
