Look - Fair, light Golden quality to the color. About an inch of foam, that dissipated quickly. Good carbonation.

Smell - As malty-smelling as would be expected. Slight fruitiness/sweetness...maybe something along the lines of a pear or apple..thus a slight cider-like smell.

Taste - Malty tasting, but well-balanced. I almost sense a "smoked" essence to it. Hard to pin down. But it's present in the aftertaste. Fruity taste is still there, but less prominent.

Mouthfeel - Also well-balanced; not too watery or creamy in texture.

Drinkability - Good beer in general. Well-balanced with not too strong of an aftertaste, and not too filling. Worth coming back for and/or recommending.

The Pale Ale and the Blonde Ale are back in can-form from an outsider brewer in IL. While the actual design lost all of its character, going from the naked blonde on the label staring back at a monkey in the mirror to a generic, metallic-lined eyesore, the contents are what counts for the review.

L - Pours a cloudy copper, golden color with an inch of bubbly white head that dissipates quick and leaves a thin lacing. Carbonation up the sides like soda water.

S - Faint, but has hints of honey, biscuit malt, citrus rind, white grape, and a little bit of earthy hops.

T - Honey, white grape, orange, saltine cracker, very little hop prescence.

F - Light-to-medium bodied, watery, moderate carbonation, slightly sticky towards the end but drinkable.

O - It's been a few years but this doesn't feel/taste anything like the original from what I can recall. It's fine for what a blonde ale is (light, bright, malty) but not great as far as what Nimbus produced. Maybe it's a can vs bottle thing, maybe it's a local vs nat'l distributor thing, but this doesn't have the same standout character the Tucson version had. This site lists 3.5% ABV, the bottle label had it listed at 4%, this can says 5.1% so at least they upped the alcohol content. Strange that it would be a higher ABV than its pale ale brethren at 4.9% ABV but I'll take it. I'd go with the pale ale over this one, but neither are outstanding. Mostly drinkable for a trip down memory lane.

A very good showing from Nimbus. Living in Tucson I'm happy to see good beers coming from here. Honey, lemon biscuit, and easy to drink. Looking forward to trying more of their beers.

A- Poured to a small glass with a toasted golden body from the 12oz bottle. The white head forms with a thick and frothy consistency to about one finger. Good head retention.

S- Quite mild and lacking enough strength to really pick up much. Pale cracked grains, slight bread, light fruits and apple esters.

T- Mild once again with a balance of honey, yeast bread, light apple fruity esters, cracked pale grains and some herbal floral hops. There is something else to it that reminds me a bit of maple syrup.

MF- Light bodied with a very high carbonation that provides a crisp burn to the palate. Texture is quite creamy and foamy at the same time. Tiny bitterness.

Light and mild but delivers a nice touch of honey and at 3.5% has plenty of flavor to satisfy.
