330 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Black with a miniscule khaki head. Settles to a very thin collar and nothing on the surface.
Smell - Smokey and a little peaty. Coffee. Dark chocolate.
Taste - Dark chocolate. Peat a little more then smoke. Gives it that slight herbal and grassy flavor. Bitter chocolate.
Mouthfeel - Medium heavy. Medium low carbonation. Slick and a little oily.
Overall - Very tasty. Excellent barrel and of course a great base beer.

Got this one at the De Molen beer shop in Bodegraven.
From a bottle into a snifter
Bottled 16 September 2013
APPEARANCE: A clear, dark brown pour yields a one finger, medium looking, fizzy tan head with lousy retention. Black body, transparent, with no real carbonation evident. Fades to a splotchy wisp that remains the whole way but leaves no real lacing down the glass. Clearer body and a less impressive head than the other variants.
SMELL: Lots of peat from the barrel. Some leather, dark chocolate, a hint of roasted grain, but mostly smoky peat on the nose here. Bold as well.
TASTE: Boozy and just a touch of smoke up front, then lots of flavor after the swallow. Lots of Bowmore barrel with smoky peated flavors, oak, roasted grain and leather over the bed of alcohol. A big, lingering finish is smoky and roasted, with bitter dark chocolate, leather and alcohol. Pretty flavorful and well balanced, though a touch more up front would be appreciated.
PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. A not really all that creamy, a touch fizzy perhaps, but goes down fine and mouth-coating. A bit of heat lingers.
OVERALL: A quality beer, though the look and feel didn't quite work out as well as some of the other variations. Still and quality peated BA stout that is well worth checking out, though if given the chance, I'd choose the Bunnahabhain version over this one. Splitting hairs perhaps.
