This certainly is one of Menno's best creations. Maybe even one of the better creations of all Dutch beers. Menno loves bitter and well hopped beers and this one is no exception. Lots of herbal aroma hop used and added while cooling down instead of during the boil which makes gives it a good hop character. The beer is in the barley wine style leaning towards the American variety. Nice maltiness and alcohol pretty much present. But still very easy to drink. Love it.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. This batch is listed at 8.5 percent ABV on the bottle.

The beer pours an orange-amber color with a large, cream-colored head. The aroma is very nice. I get a mix of caramel malt, brown sugar and a lot of orange citrus from the hops. There is also quite a bit of alcohol in the aroma.

The flavor is similar. I get bread and toffee malt with some sugar and orange citrus. There is quite a bit of hop flavor, but not too much bitterness. The alcohol is also present in the flavor.

Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Drank from my Gage Roads Tulip

A - Pours a nice deep Amber colour with a two fingered off white head that retains well.

S - Nice balance of malt and hops with a little sweetness rolled in.

T - Up fromnt some sweetness followed by some massive hop flavours of pine. Malt flavours kick in later before a nice lingering bitter finish.

M - Medium body and carbonation.

O - A very solid beer that I recommend

This is certainly one of the beers of de Molen that deserves the qualification of a session beer. It pours a dark brown color with a nice off-white head and enough carbonation for the style.
The smell was slightly acidic with a burned/ toasted malt smell. Some alcohol is coming through also.
The taste was basically the same as the smell with the acidity and burned malts, giving the beer a somewhat stout-like taste. Together with the high bitterness and big body, this beer was a real treat. It seems to be the brewer's signature beer, and I think it is a very good beer.

BB 14-10-2005. Claiming this is the most bitter beer of Holland and having 9.2 alcohol made me exited. Quiet good lasting head and a amberbrown beercolor with lots of haze. Nose is sweet alcoholic maltjuice with only litle hoparome. Seeing this one is almost 2 years old I'll certainly try a fresh one but anyway overal a moderate nose that doesn't have off-tastes but age is noticable.
Taste is sweetcaramel, malty, alcoholic and moderatly bittered. Sure this isn't the most bitter beer of Holland. It's actualy not even really bitter. Quiet a dissappointment actually and can't say I really enjoy this but drinkable.
