A gusher. Ain't that a bitch. The nose is quite resinous, a fair lick of pine driven hops - some citrus notes, nothing very tropical. Plenty of bite on the palate, nicely countered by the malt presence. I wouldn't describe this as a pretty beer by any means. Well balanced and expressive. There is a bit of that oily pine resin lingering in the finish but it's all good. Hope it doesn't gush next time.

pa beers are not my favorite style. But when I taste one of very well done I have to surrender to the evidence. A beer ipa that I repeat. DE Molen does not stay with the simplicities of the ipa beers and draws a beer with some pretty interesting things

Tasted at the Situation. Pours a hazy amber colour, medium head with long retention, good lacing. Aroma of caramel, resins, flowers, honey, notes of tropical fruits. Medium to full body, creamy texture, good carbonation. Sweet finish. Taste of caramel, honey, hops. Great one.

From Decervecitas. In Teku glass. Playing Bioshock, with Tostarica biscuits. Very alcoholic with strong bitter bite. Even the refreshing, citric profile of amarillo hops isnt enough to conpensate this level boozyness

Poured to a BrewDog snulip glass.

A: The body is coppery, having orange to red hues. The color is really amazing. When pouring, I got an head two fingers thick but after a while the retention was minor but still showing some foam. Good for a >9% ABV beer.
S: The aroma is more resinous than expected. Was hoping to find more fruity and tropical notes but only a minor citrus are to be found here. The rest is just resin and a pinch of maltiness. There's also some belgian candi notes I guess, creating a more sweeter than expected aroma for an IPA.
T: The taste begins with a very little, grapefruit to tangerine like citrus, being after a while this flavour completely overwhelmed by the resinous profiles in the beer. To the back of the taste, there's a very good bitterness, some earthy and grass feel to the hops being well balanced. Good work on the back. The front of the flavour has too much resin hints.
M: Body is medium to low. Carbonation is high. Alcohol content goes unnoticed and that's very cool. Bitterness is high and has a good kick.
O: Very nice IPA, would just love to find this with hops having less resinous profile. Besides that, this appears to be mastered by the dutch brewmasters at De Molen. Cheers!

On-tap served in a snifter at Hair of the Dog, Bangkok.

Hazy deep orange amber color, it tops with very thick fluffy off-white froth that very well retains itself with excellent retention before slowly collapsing to an everlasting foamy sheet atop and leaving stunning and refined lacing all around.

Obviously, the evidence of Amarillo in a nose with its floral and zesty citrus, there are also notes of mild ripe mango, garlic, and slight spice. Malt is there too with its sweet candy, biscuit, and caramel in supporting.

The taste is led by the intensity of hop leading by crisp citrus and floral together with tropical, grass, and some ripe mango. Malt reinforces with its solid candy sweetness also biscuit and caramel. Hop again wraps up in the finish with its persistent bitterness that is also lingering in the aftertaste together with some residual sweetness.

Full body with rather low carbonation but it is enough to carry all the things well under quite smooth mouthfeel, the feeling is a bit hefty while the finish is dry. This IPA deserves the word "Imperial" with its intensity and quality.

Served in a tulip from the bottle here at cervecería Esparte in Conil, Spain.

Appearance: heavy heavy sediments coming off a darker gold body.

Smell: Light hops scent, definitely not the strongest characteristic.

Taste: Complex malts and citrus, has a lighter sweetness but trust me the sweetness of grapefruit and tangerine is there.

Mouth: sticky beer, but comes off a bit dry.

Overall: You see it you grab it, beast beer which smashes the palates. Has a juicy feel which comes off as the best thirst quencher you will ever have. With lust and experience. Salud!

Dark yellow colour, a bit hazy, with no sediments.
Smells like honey, mango, forest mushrooms.
The taste lacks the characteristic bitterness, being dominated instead by the honey and fruits (mango, peach). The high alcohol content is perfectly hidden.
A great and refreshing beer that makes you wanna drink it bottom up after opening.

An ipa bottled on 2015??

Way to sweet, hops faded.
I wonder how this will taste fresh.

S: Dried tangerine peels. Marmalade. Pineapple. Toffee. Caramel. Fresh-cut grass. Resinous pine. Some sort of herbs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
T: Toffee. Caramel. Delmonte pineapple juice from the can. Overripe oranges. Resin. Same herbal/spice notes from nose.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
M: Medium-bodied. Creamy. Light but stingy carbonation. Slightly boozy.

O: This is apparently de Molen's take on a "typical" American Double/Imperial IPA-ish; bold, sweet-ish malt flavors balanced out by what should technically be a shit ton of bitter and dry hop character. I can somewhat see what they were gunning for as I'm slowly sipping this, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of the result or the style in general. Whereas Amarillo was apparently only used in the dry-hopping stage for this brew, it could probably be greatly improved if some of the more grassy dank notes for the Amarillo was incorporated into the flavor profile as well.
