Bottled July 2010, drunk Feb 2013 near room temp in a tulip.
A - 3.75 - Black with a thin mocha head that dissipates fairly quickly.
S - 4.0 - Sweet malt like Sugar Smacks cereal of old, plus chocolate. Just a hint of something stiffer and roasty. Also a hint of something vinous.
T - 4.25 - All of the elements of the nose carry through on the palate. The prior reviewer mentioned chocolate covered raisins in the aroma. I would not have thought of that, but I get that note on the palate now that they mention it. Another reviewer mentioned a metallic taste. I got none of that until the very end when I was drinking the last sip full of sediment, then I got a noticeable metallic taste amongst the good tastes - I recommend skipping the sediment. Prior to that, the aftertaste and exhale consisted of a nice and manageable level of bitter black malt char. No heat.
M - 4.0 - Medium-heavy body. Not as viscous as expected
O - 4.0 - Very nice, and thankfully complex. Really expensive. I'm glad I tried it, but at this price-to-enjoyment ratio, I likely would not buy it again.

appearance - As black as black can be with dark brown edges. Had a semi medium aggressive pour which surprisingly resulted in zero head.
smell - dark chocolate is the most prominent thing that comes to mind
taste - Major coffee and chocolate hints to be found. Somewhat nutty. Not much boozyness to be found here.
mouthfeel - Medium thickness. Not quite as thick as I like my imperial stouts to be. Practically no carbonation.
overall - I'm in the netherlands for a month due to a work project, so obviously I immediately searched out the solid offerings this country has. Turns out Europe does not have the infatuation with stouts like we do here in America. Overall though, this is a pretty solid russian imperial stout that has managed to soothe my needs for a European stout.
