Nut, cocoa, dark fruit and cognac aroma, cohesive and complex. Similar flavors, smooth, rich silky texture. This has aged well; doesn't seem over the hill, probably at its peak. Good stuff.

Deep black color with no head whatsoever. This is a long dated cellared brewed.
Mild aroma with notes of chocolate, homemade coffee, brown sugar, vanilla and dark fruits.
Flavor with notes of oak, cognac, cocoa, chocolate, coffee, lots of plums, grapes, black currants and vanilla.
Medium to full body with flat carbonation. Old exemplar...
Rounded imperial stout with lots of dark fruits on an elegant cognac background.

Poured from cellar temp (56 degrees) into a snifter. This is from 2012. Smell is amazing. I get a lot of vanilla, but I assume this is from the wood chips soaked in cognac. Taste follows the nose. Some bitterness, but it's almost non-existent. Dark fruits (cherries, currants, blackberries, and raspberries. Amazing!

Taste: Chocolate, raisins, Finnish memma. Sweet molass.
Feel: Oily thick. Smooth. Wonderful.
Overall: complex big beer that is really drinkable.

A: brown black, no retention of the head, and enough chunky sediment to qualify as a salad. Who's eating their vegetables? You are.
S: Wet wood, dry cherry, plums, , rum barrels, burnt honey, coco nibs and chocolate liquor.
T: rum barrels, and wet wood precede a blast of dried dark fruits. Alcohol esters on the end that evokes coco nibs. Slightly dry and bitter after taste that defeats any cloying sweetness.
M: envelopes the mouth fully, and allows the alcohol esters to evaporate and swirl around. If you hold it in your mouth for a slight omens those esters heighten the flavours.
O: Bold and assertive, the burnt honey sweetness and dark dry fruits with the alcohol esters punch offer a wonderful evening sipper. The flavours are bold, but not especially complex. I'd love to try this while eating plain coco nibs, to enhance that coco nib liquor quality on the finish.
