Appearance: The bottle conditioning on this one has gone a little rogue so it's difficult to pour a decent glass without producing a tall, stubborn head. The remaining liquid is a hazy, golden hue. Nothing exciting; nothing offensive.

Smell: Some of the piny/citrus aroma you'd expect from an IPA dry-hopped with columbus and amarillo, but also an odd, unexpected smoky note. There's something of a superglue quality to it as well.

Taste: The aforementioned smoky note hits first, then comes a mild piny taste, accompanied by a minor hit of stone-fruit (peach, apricot). It's unremarkable.

Mouthfeel: SPRITZY! Too much carbonation. It bubbles on the tongue, causing the flavours to feel thin and weak.

Drinkability: It's a fairly light IPA so there'd be no issues in knocking a few of these back, but in the future I'd rather spend my sobriety (and money) on something else.

330ml bottle.

This beer pours with a tumultuous amount of fast-rising loose off-white foam, which necessitates a slow, impatient experience before getting on with things. It does render some pretty, thick-boned webbed lace in the process, however, over an eventual foggy medium golden amber hue, chunky sediment aside.

It smells of sweet and tart orange pulp, a restrained biscuity caramel malt, and some sturdy herbal, leafy, grassy bitterness. The taste is herbal pine needles, soft aged orange and lemon rind, a cracker-mediated caramel sweetness, some very soft earthy yeast, and a wee prick of alcohol.

The bubbles are active and sharply frothy throughout, the body on the thin side of medium weight, and too damned unpredictable to pin down any smoothness proclamations. It finishes off-dry, the somewhat bready malt withering the waning hop siege.

Hops for Lent - why the hell not - they're good for everything else, IMHO. Here, they have to share the bill with an overactive carbonation, yes, but do well to shift focus back. Enjoyable enough, though the time-of-year schtick kind of fails with international shipments like this, and I'm not keeping this one until next spring.

A very decent IPA with a twist. It has pronounced saaz-like character followed by orange c-hop flavours, the latter more so as it warms. A bit of a foamer, enormous head and lace. Off-white soap on orange body. Distinct American hop aromas. Smooth mouth feel, tingling the palate in the aftermath. Good drinkability.
Thanks Presario.

on-tap at in de wildeman in amsterdam

paired with 2 cheeses - brin d'Amour van Corsica and Blue de chevre uit de Loire...both great

coaster notes

appearance: served in a tulip, bright copper body with a foamy white cap

smell: fresh citrus - grapefruit, tangerine, lemon peel. nicely hopped, floral, yeasty

taste: another solid de molen offering consumed in amsterdam - freshly hopped, grapefruit citrus, caramel, apricot, grassy

mouthfeel: pulpy, quaffable

drinkability: good

This beer is almost perfect. Although there's a lot hop in it, it doesn't have the sharp edges of many other extra hopped beers.

L: the top is perfect, but the body is a bit cloudy;
S: biscuit, grass and pine;
T: in line with the smell, but completed with a lot lemon, but where sometimes lemon means 'siruppy' this is the real thing;
M: the mouthfeel is maybe the most specific element of this beer and it's perfect: the roundness is in complete harmony with the bitterishnes, the alcohol and the CO2; and the after taste (which is a problem for many extra hopped beers) is perfectly tiny;
O: compliments for this brew!

Poured from a 330ml bottle. Pours a big white head atop an enticing cloudy orange colour. The smell is all Cascade hops: piney, citrusy, inviting. The taste follows suit with a big malty presence to help balance it all out. This drinks like a really good West Coast IPA. The excellent carbonation makes a potentially heavy beer very drinkable.

A- so, I just wanted to point this out, it says it's brewed with bottom fermenting yeast. It's technically not an IPA, but I digress. Upon pouring, it immediately turns to coarse foam. It pours a hazy amber with lots of floating matter. The massive coarse head fades slowly, leaving random clumps of lacing.

S- really fruity, very sweet malt. Dried fig, vinous.

T- sweet again, vinous, brown sugar, dried fruit. Doesn't really seem like an IPA to me, and as I said previously, it's not.

M- hard to tell the body, it turns to foam immediately on the palate.

O- it's not an IPA in any way, but it's tasty.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a cloudy consistency. A lot of sediment floating around. There was a big, creamy, long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: A very subtle aroma of hops, malt, and citrus.

T: Tasted pretty much like it smelled: A good deal of hops (just enough), light malt, and a bit of citrus. Not a groundbreaking flavor, but very straightforward, focused, and balanced.

M: A highly carbonated beer with a crisp, clean finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A solidly made, easy to drink IPA. Drinkable.

330ml bottle poured into tulip 1/8/12

A murky dark orange liquid with loads of sediment and a two finger cream colored foam that retains well leaving a few partial rings of lace, looks pretty dark for the style

S lots of citrus with a orange marmalade thing going for it, fruity for sure with a little caramel and faint booze, some tropical notes as it warms

T faint pine and grass and a little rind I didn't smell, a little too sweet for the style but still a decent beer

M medium bodied with a couple little chunks, leaves a little behind on the gums and not as sticky as I would guess

O decent beer but it has a odd hop profile, I never really did figure it out before my glass was empty, my glass was empty pretty fast so that says something

worth a try but I wouldn't go searching for it, I liked the nose but other areas were missing just a little something
