Really dark brown with just a bit of short-living off-white froth.
Smell of dark fruit jam, mostly raisin, date and some cherry, molasses, sweet dark malts, a bit of chocolate, a bit of alcohol, faint walnut.
Sweet dark fruit up front, bathed in molasses and caramel. Lots of raisin, fig, slightly sour cherries. A bit of citrus peel. Malts are toasty, bringing some chocolate, faint nut and dark bread crust. Nice and spicy, licorice, faint anise, teaming up with the warm alcohol in the finish and hinting strongly at Port wine. Light roast here too.
Medium body, almost flat, sticky. Aftertaste is still sweet, lingering molasses and some raisin, plus toasted dark bread.
A bit sweet, but a nice take on a quad. Really tasty, just a bit complex.

Small, soon vanishing head, leaving a thin lacing at the glass, pours a dark brown, almost black color.
Smells of molasses, toffee, chocolate with hints of flowery hops - overall just very sweet.

Almost no carbonation at all, begins sweet, with toffee and toasted malts, accompanied by slightly bitter hops, which invites a gentle bitter chocolate note to the palate. A short alcohol bite enhances the bitterness, but from a different angle, numbing the tongue, which then gets overpowered by cane sugar and molasse - very, very sweet. Lacks balance, the sweetness is too dominant, without being pleasant on its own, no interaction or counterpart is detectable in this. Finishes with slick sweetness and burning alcohol down the throat.

Unique bottle label data: 13/02/2012

Thick, heavy, rocky head sitting atop a dark, garnet colored body. Heavy dark fruit aroma; dates and figs; caramel. The taste closely mirrors the the aroma with a stronger sugary sweetness lurking underneath. Heavy body with a lot of residual sugars present.

Rich and robust with a brazenly deep, dark sweetness throughout. Thick and chewy with a licorice-like tone. Boldly satisfying with a tangy sweetness and heft.

Dark opaque colour, with a dense off white head, good lace. Smell of dates, raisins, chocolate, caramel dried fruits. Srong palate, full body, sticky. Taste of dried fruits, chocolate, port wine, licorice, alcohol, caramel, dates. A bomb.

Bottled in 2012

A: Pours a deep brown, nearly black with a large frothy khaki head that slowly fades.

S: Some sweet malts, chocolate and dark fruits. Get some molasses too, subtle earth as well. Very inviting smell.

T: Lots of chocolate up front, with dark fruit, molasses and a nice sweetness, that does not overpower. A bit of booze comes through as well.

M: Medium bodied and smooth, with a nice sweetness and solid carbonation. A nice sipping beer that is great even as it warms. A bit more body might benefit.

O: A real solid beer here, not akin to many of the BSDAs I've had. I get much more chocolatey sweetness than I'd expect, but I dig it!
