Served on-tap at Foothill's Brewing Company in Winston-Salem, NC
A: Pours an opaque yet still clear dark brown (almost black) in color with light amounts of gentle carbonation along the edges of the glass and some dark cola brown highlights. The beer has a half finger tall foamy light tan head that reduces to a large patch of thick film surrounded by very thin film and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of freshly roasted coffee over slightly lighter aromas of roasted malts.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of roasted malts with some hints of cocoa. That is followed by moderate flavors of freshly roasted coffee. Light to moderate amounts of lingering bitterness.
M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: This was quite enjoyable and I really thought it was cool that the brewer roasted his own coffee beans for the beer. I think the coffee flavor is quite complementary and improves on the base beer. I'll definitely be getting another of these at some point soon.

On tap at Foothills
A: Pours a near black with moderate amount of carbonation that leads to a tan brown head that has some staying power.
S: Big roasted coffee aroma that is backed by roasted malt.
T: Great roast coffee flavor that is present throughout with roasted malt lingering around as well. Ends slightly bitter, but not in a bad way at all.
M: Medium body with decent carbonation.
O: An awesome offering from Foothills; one that I hope makes the regular rotation.

Had this one about a month ago. Reviewed from notes on phone.
Stopped by the brewpub hoping for one of the BA-beers that they periodically throw on, and they had this little gem instead.
Deep black. Small cap of froth on top. Huge wafts of freshly-ground coffee burst from this beer! Any other aroma is drowned out by this coffee-goodness.
Good smooth hefty feel. This one is a sipper, not a gulper. Big coffee flavor with a bit of char on the finish. The sweetness I expect from the original People's is downplayed to say the least, as the coffee flavor kicks it into high gear.
I'd love to start a Saturday morning out with this bad boy. Nicely done, Foothills.
