Cask pour in a 6 ounce glass, the beer is jet black, creamy and thick, with a dark brown, low profile head. Nose of dark, bitter cocoa nibs, sweet cream, and earthy highlights with a very strong overlay of rich vanilla. Solid nose. Flavors are vanilla forward, boozy, with a solid follow of bitter cocoa nibs. Very balanced, with heavy roasted notes, subtle coffee bitterness, and earthy characteristics. Smooth, robust bodied, leaving a thick, slick lacing along the glass. Loaded with a chocolate and vanilla rich aftertaste. Smooth, lingering finish. Wow! Very tasty! Please bottle this at some point!

Poured at Foothills for their Sexual Chocolate bottle release. 02/01/2014
A: A beautiful jet black, opaque color with nice dark chocolate edging on the side of the glass. No carbonation to speak of.
S: Vanilla, roasted coffee, chocolate, toffee, and a touch of smoke. I didn't detect the honey other than some general malty sweetness from this particular style of beer. Amazing marriage of aromas!
T: Wow. A huge Russian Imperial Stout that is unbelievably super smooth. Again, vanilla and coffee right at the front and middle of the tongue with a dry, but sweet finish of honey (there it is!). They abv wasn't listed but based on their Sexual Chocolate RIS at around 10% I'm going to assume this is likely the same. The alcohol isn't completely masked, you do know this beer is a mammoth, but the vanilla and honey do a terrific job of taking the "edges" off the aforementioned style.
M: Sweet, but not cloyingly so- with a nice balance of roasted malts. Finishes pretty dry, but makes sense with the addition of honey.
O: Man, it really too bad this stout isn't bottled or at least brewed seasonally. Honestly, one of the best RIS I've tasted to date. The cask was tapped and subsequently "killed" very quickly. Very glad I was able to partake. Fantastic stuff Foothills!
